I am gonna let you know, I already submitted a suggestion email to GOG...

I want in the very least, ALL of the SIMS 1 games, The Sims 2, Sim City 2000, Sim Ant, Sim Earth, Sim Farm, Sim Town... The list goes on... What Games would you all like to see on here?? I know that Abandonmania has most of the DOS games, but I like GOG because it's no muss no fuss approach to launching games with a single click.. DOS Box .73 or later is pretty difficult to use, you have to mount, run mount, etc., I'd rather pay for an auto launch program.. I used to be good at DOS programs, but after Windows ME went away, I've rarely used DOS.. I want an OLD pc, so I can find legacy games and run it without emulators.
EA will probably be a hard nut to crack, I have no doubt we'll be seeing them eventually though.

Please vote for the games on the wanted list, adding those few not already there.
You realize DOSBox Game Launcher and DFend Reloaded exist, right?

Not just that, but GOG don't even use any extra programs. Just a .conf file for each game with everything relevant in the autoexec section. =/

I hope GOG eventually makes a graphical program for changing/launching DOS games. Most people don't realize how better their experience can be by changing GOG's settings for most of the games.

Yeah, running the sound at 22050Hz is a pretty odd choice off the top of my head.

D-Fend has an import function, but It didn't worked well for me (Text Murphy, some other games). I don't know where exactly the problem is, but to import my gog games into D-Fend would be indeed the best solution in my eyes.

When you import into a program like D-Fend or DBGL, the settings that GOG set will not be transferred. You'll have to manually put in the settings they put in their configs.

That's really sad. There is a conf-import function, but it doesn't work with the gog ones. Any idea where the problem comes from? Is gog using bad syntax or is this a problem by D-Fend?

Edit: Btw, sorry for being complete off-topic. Last post, I promise.

It might be easier to just have the configuration open and directly copy into DFend/DBGL what they put as settings.

Okay, I tried it again and got Tex Murphy Under a killing moon working with D-Fend. I'm using the portable version, so I installed in the VirtualHD folder and used the import function for the conf-file. D-Fend found all settings correctly, but the game didn't wanted to start. The problems here are that D-Fend doesn't know the correct folder to start and the mount order in gogs autoexec.bat.

First I removed the setting which forbid DosBox to mount other devices and added the UAKM folder as device c, so D-Fend knows now where to start. Then I edited the autoexec.bat in the start section. I removed the part to mount device c (this is now done by D-Fend) and added the c: before the part about moiunting the cd-images, because otherwise DosBox can't find the images (which are from DosBoxs point of view on c:).

So, what would be the improvments for an easier way to import gogs Dosbox-confs:
For D-Fend: Futomaticly add the folder where the conf is lying as device c and allow to mount other devices after DosBox start.
For GOG: Change the mount order so that the images are mounted using the files on c: inside DosBox.

Again, sorry for off-topic.

You know that there's no such thing legally as "abandonware" and that downloading supposed "abandonware" constitutes copyright infringement, right?
I voted for all the games, why not have em all?? LOL

Most abandonware sites strictly-speaking are not legal. However, in general, no one cares (hence the games being "abandoned" by their owners). If this site has the Maxis games, I'm pretty sure those are still in copyright and thus would, again strictly-speaking, be considered illegal. Now one could argue the morality of downloading games no longer sold by original publisher or violating copyrights that aren't enforced, but that's a slightly different matter from the strict letter of the law. :)

P.S. I also hope we get those games on GOG. :)

Yes - adandonware is not legal, the IP is owned by someone - somewhere (though no-one might not be sure who or where).

In the case of Maxis, it think EA holds all rights still (correct me if I am wrong). They might not want to do anything about these IP's, or have buried them so deep somewhere so it is to much hazzle to resurrect them, but they do own them.
