Good point, however I was more thinking about a somewhat obscure Steven King book about a alien artifact that transformers the pepole that live in the town of Haven, Maine into alien creature that created the artifact and gain hyper intelligence but also become more paranoid, impulsive and grow wierd body parts, well all except for one guy. And hence the alien creatures are nicknamed ''Tommyknockers''
