I'm playing Castle of Illusion, the recent remake. And to my surprise it's fun!

I don't like platformers in general. Even good ones. I don't like Disney in general or Mickey Mouse in particular.

But this game is great!

What are your surprises?
Puzzle Kingdoms - I actually like a quick blast on a mindless 'match 3' game like Bejeweled now and again but I was really impressed with the level of deep strategic thinking they could get out of the simple match 3 base in the form of turn based one on one duels
Maybe would have been better with more sideshows to break up the monotony of duels, duels and more duels but its really addictive until the monotony kicks in!

Fallout 2. After a while it got really, really fun and I wasn't expecting that.

Tekken 3. I saw it at a bookstore for $2 and decided to give it a try. I didn't think it's be quite as fun as I find it is (my first main series Tekken game, and my PS1 collection is a little hit or miss. I.e., I find Medal of Honor not very fun, Soul Blade pretty okay, and so on.)

In unrelated news, I was looking over My Games, and I hope when I get my computer going again I'm in an FPS mood, because since it screwed up I've bought both Far Cry games, Chaser, and SiN. (It's off topic, but I thought it was funny.)

Duke Nukem Forever... for all the abuse it got, I loved every second of it. Silliness at its finest.
Bloodrayne; same reasons as darthspudius mentioned for DNF.
Runespell: Overture - I'm not a big fan of card games but this one is surprisingly fun and addictive. I haven't finished it yet but i certainly will. :)

I got that on PS+, it was a decent game.

+1 I had fun with it, I don't care what anyone says.

+1 to you to! Fuck everyone else! lol :P
Gun Monkeys. Never planned to get it but a friend tricked me to try it.
It's multiplayer only title. Those short psychedelic matches are really interesting.
FTL, when I saw it on kickstarter, I was eh...meh. Then when I picked it up on a sale, it was really fun, had a blast playing it and recommend it to anyone into indie games with a fun choose your own adventure strategy mix gameplay.

Same goes for a few other games, that I had mile or low interest in like the popular Plants Vs Zombies when it came out and everybody was playing it. I was really late in playing the game much later on.
I know I'm not the only only one to have been pleasantly surprised by Defender's Quest. A fun tower-defense game? Didn't think that was possible.

Impaler26: Runespell: Overture
Yes! That's exactly what I was about to post! It's a surprisingly kick-ass card game -- who knew? lol~ Attack battle-poker-solitaire, what a concept, but it's really a lot of fun!
Max Payne 3.
While I still think it's not a proper sequel for ditching the comic book strips and acting more like GTA: Max Payne, it's pretty fun.

I don't think I enjoyed every moment with it, but it was definitely nowhere near as bad as people made it out to be.
If you just treat it like a game that should've been released twelve years ago without all the drama surrounding it it's not that bad. A couple of the jokes really worked for me (there was one about steam and valves or something) and it was fun enough for me to actually finish it.

Another one for me was Waking Mars, I hadn't expected to like it and I ended up loving it.
I expected nothing but the worst from Red Faction:Armageddon but I had a decent time with it .All because of the greatness that is the magnet gun.
