evilguy12: I was totally surprised by Earthbound. I thought it would have been one of those games that's acclaim comes from people wearing rose tinted glasses.
I first played Earthbound when I was twelve or thirteen, back when it first came out. I enjoyed it then, but I didn't really appreciate what it had to say until I played it again as an adult.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Now, I know that a lot of people like it and think it's the best horror game ever, but I didn't go in expecting that to be so. I guess the game knew that, and it slapped me. Hard.

I like it a lot. Concept is great, I like the way it is controlled. It really is the best horror game I've ever played. Which is also the worst thing about it. I jumped and shiver-twitched so many frikkin' times I had to take a break. But then the sun went down and I thought it best to wait until morning to play again.

But yeah, it is great.
Precursors and Xenus 2:White Gold. Yeah, you have to jump through hoops to get the games to play properly, but once you do they are fantastic!

pointhro: Has anyone with a ps3 here played demon's souls?

Easily the most frustrating and at the same time most rewarding game I've played in a long long time.

I couldn't put it down until I platinumed it (five or so playthroughs).

My personal game of the decade :)
Definitely. Best game in the console. Can't wait for Dark Souls
Yus! Found this thread again.

Anyway, Downloaded a few games i didnt play when i got them.

Warlords battlecry 3: Had a little play, Went straight to skirmish and was like :/ But then gone into campaign and the game instantly shot into one of the best RTS games i have played, I love how it has a RPG Mix to it and makes it work.

Divine Divinity: I thought this would be kinda odd to play because of the way the camera faces compared to other isometric RPG's But actually it makes it better because your not looking in every single corner for items to sell, Didnt really get anywhere coz i didnt save my game >.< But i spent just over a hour messing around in the town killing rats and rabbits, Its great how you can move rocks and boxes to anywhere in the area too.
Age of Empires II. I downloaded the demo for it about a year ago and thought it was pretty good. I then found the Age of Empires Collector's Edition (comes with AoE I Gold and AoE II plus expansion) for ten bucks. I picked it up and decided I might as well start with the first game.

Big mistake.

It was incredibly slow, had no build queue, and your guys wouldn't attack the enemy unless you selected your guy and clicked on the enemy. I was annoyed and finally gave up, going to AoE II instead. Unfortunately, I had a hard time getting into the game because of my experience with the one before it. So I stopped playing and haven't touched it until yesterday.

I was pleasantly surprised, and I remembered why I had wanted it in the first place. I'm still in the William Wallace campaign, but I'm really enjoying it.

You can speed up the game in the options. Rise of Rome expansion adds building queue to the game. Units defend themselves when attacked, though it's true that you have to command your units if you want to attack. I thought that it's pretty normal thing in RTS games.
Check if you have Rise of Rome installed. It adds many important things into the game (new civilizations, double-click selects all units of the same kind, higher population limit etc.)
Also don't forget to install 1.0c patch for original game and 1.0a for RoR.

Check this site if you want more information about AoE: http://aoe.heavengames.com/

PS. You should start playing Egypt campaign, because it's easier than rest. I know that you got burned with the game, but try to play it with RoR and higher speed setting. It should make the game much more fun to play.

I think my biggest problem was going from the AoE II demo to AoE. I guess I had certain expectations and they weren't met with the first game. I'm not going to ignore it forever, though. With your suggestions (thanks for those, by the way) and a little personal motivation, I'll probably try it again someday. For now, however, I'll be content with AoE II.
