An article from the Guardian. In summation, video game addiction is fairly rare and the scaremongers that crop up whenever a mass shooting or gamer suicide are simply parroting phrases similar to early Victorians and their attitudes on women reading. So, it basically says stuff we already know. The second article from the BBC was mentioned in the first and deserves to be read.
But don't be so quick to dismiss the chorus of game haters, lads, there's profit to be made. Someone actually hired an assassin to kill their child's avatar! There are morons out there who are willing to pay money for you and I to play video games! Imagine, in a standard WoW battle you might kill a noob ten times, there's thousands to be made in the video game assassin trade!
