Yes there should be and will be gay characters in video games because gay people exist in real life.

True, and there probably are far more gay characters in games than most people realize. Many of them haven't just come out of the closet yet. I'm suspecting that e.g. Iolo (in Ultima 7) is possibly gay, and that Mario & Luigi are not real brothers, but "bros".
