I don't know how many games in the catalogue support network play but it would be useful to dig up some information on how to make them work on TCP/IP.
For example, I remember that it's possible to get battle.net games to work on the internet using some (emulation ?) software.

Easiest is using VPN software such as Hamachi to play games over TCP/IP connected computers that appear to be on LAN. Sorry if that's too many TLAs (three-letter abbreviation) in a sentence. Key word is bolded, the rest is not so hard to figure out. :P
If you're thinking of bnetd as a battle.net emulator, that project has been shut down by Blizzard. The method mentioned above should still work, I believe.
I agree for hamachi is perfect for the old games
Hamachi is a perfect solution for most things, really.
EDIT:
Got venereal disease? Try Hamachi today!

Lol? :D
Nah but seriously speaking - hamachi is a lifesaver if you love good old games (no pun intended) and want to play them with a friend.. For example it's a good solution for me and my girlfriend since we love playing HOMMIV together :) I really recommend it - hamachi that is ;)

Something that everybody seems to forget is that you just need to look back at history and you will so that it has all been done before. Look at EverQuest, it is still going strong with the same game play from the past. Does anybody think that it really matters.

UPDATE: Ok, I'm a jerk, I didn't figure that you are talking about network gaming and not on-line gaming.....

Short answer: every game is a different story. Some of the games on GOG doesn't even understand things like "the Internet" and use the network emulation from DOSBox to get on-line (sort of, if you are up to the task).

Ah, so their post was deleted then? Yes, I see the post numbering goes straight from 7 to 11. It's just that post 6 also seemed to be spam, but that was from 2009.

Yeah. Hell if I know why they chose this thread to spam, though.
