Picking my favorite RPG is like choosing my favorite grandparent, it's a tough call. I'll go with Jagged Alliance 2 (1.1.3), because it really is a role playing game, you define your own character, choose your party, and determine how you proceed strategically and tactically toward the goal. Few games offer that kind of choice and control.
My Favorite RPG (because I am so original) is Fallout 2

This is, first and foremost, because it gives you more options than any RPG I have ever played. I mean, you can be a pornstar! or a mob boss! or a slaver! or an elitist piece of shit! Or you could just shoot every character in the game in the balls with a .44 magnum! But then, all of this would be pointless if the game weren't fun, and while the turn based combat works well, the real highlight is how funny the game is. It is one of the funniest games I have ever played, with its great writing that makes what could be a boring slog an fun and colorful odyssey. I could go on, but I'm at 5 lines.
Already have them - so not in - but Thanks and +1
I prefer family-friendly, light-hearted fun. While I Love FFVI (SNES FFIII) for its complex storyline and that unforgettable opera challenge, and I love the ambiance and storyline of Chronotrigger, the RPGs I replay the most have a character in common - Nintendo's Mario - and a lot of humor. Only Kingdom of Loathing has as much humor in it.

Mario and the Seven Stars RPG (SNES)
Mario & Luigi RPGs 1-3 (GBA & DS)
Paper Mario
Paper Mario 2: Thousand Year Door

All of which I have played over and over....

Anybody know other family friendly RPGs with a lot of humor in them?
Please count me in; thank you very much, Lugum!
+1

"Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines" places you as a newly embraced vampire on the streets of Santa Monica, a modern day environment, full of people who will respond to your actions. There are multiple solutions for the problems you will face, based on your characters' abilities and your chosen approach... you can resort to lockpicking, hacking, stealth, or direct violence, and even persuasion, intimidation or seduction. Conversation options will alter depending upon your statistics and your clan. Each clan also has its own selection of supernatural skills, and a reputation, garnering specific reactions from certain NPCs. With all this aspects and an excellent narrative, this game can really immerse you in a unique social universe.

Oh, I see that you changed it to a 1 line minimum. Speaking as a crappy writer, I say thank you for doing that! :) My favorite RPG is probably Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete. It manages to be consistently hilarious while also having a touching love story (actually, 3 of them). And never has it been so much fun to see what the townspeople in every town have to say. Clever writing all over the place!

Oops yeah i was debating on changing it or not, as it seemed to some even 5 might be a bit much.
Didn't know i edited the op, but the winner will be picked by random.org probably anyway, the piece of writing is just to put in a little effort and to share your favorite rpg.
Thank you lugum, I'm in.

My favorite rpg is Final Fantasy VI. I'll try not to spoil anything for people that have not played it.

I love the vilian. I love the music. I love the twist at games half-way point. The combat is both easy and hard in places.
I love how each playable character has their own unique skill. I liked how it has a lot of equipment variation.
The story is aslo good, and a few scenes are quick good. And it takes a decent amount of time to beat the game.
(only thing I don't like is random encounters, but an item in the games 2nd half removes all random encounters, best item EVER)

For its time it was ground breaking. It still holds up to this day.

A very close 2nd fav rpg is Chrono Trigger.
Well, I'm going to go with EarthBound as my favorite RPG. The mixture of a non-fantasy modern setting with humor that's actually funny really sets it apart. Also, hitting hippies, mushrooms, and aliens with bats and slingshots just really brings out the kid in me. Close seconds would be Ultima Underworld since it's the first one I ever really got into, and Final Fantasy V for just having one of the best character development systems I've ever encountered. I really appreciate the games where grinding is actually fun and serves a distinct purpose.

Thanks for your generosity, lugum!

Please, count me in for VampiroAlhazred. ;)

Incidentally, he has mentioned one of my two favorite RPGs, Vampire: Bloodlines, so I'm going to choose the other one: Deus Ex. As I was accostumed to play FPS at the time, the graphics striked me at first for being awful, but I carried on anyways. Best decision of my life! Promptly I was hooked to the cyberpunk story, the many possibilities of the gameplay (guns blazing or stealthy character? Brute force or hacking? Kill-all-that-moves or try to spare so many enemy lives as possible?). Not to mention the awesome duration of the game and the different endings. :)

my faverte rpg is the kingdom hearts series because you got Disney charcters and a good combat system.
I'm in for the giveaway!

As for my favourite RPG, I'd say it's Fallout 2. I played this game countless times when it came out in 1998. Last month I played it again after more than a decade, and it all came back to me. This game has lost none of its charm; it has aged supremely!
I'm in, thank you!

My favourite rpg is Planescape: Torment since it has (imo) the best writing, characters, setting and plot in any video game I've played before.
Not in but +1 for the giveaway.
Bump, draw will be tommorow.
