As followers of the "Gaming Deals thread" will know, I'm frequently posting links to deals there. When those deals are from GamersGate, then I'm posting them with a reflink. This means that _if_ someone buys the game after following that link, I'll get 10% of the purchase price as a bonus in blue coins (GamersGate's shop currency). The buyer does not pay a cent more due to this, so he/she doesn't have any disadvantage (otherwise I wouldn't do this).
Now, very few of these reflinks actually lead to a sale (about 1 in 15, I'd guess). But over time, enough blue coins have accumulated to buy some games. And since these blue coins have been accumulated due to purchases made by the GOG community, I want to give these games to that community, which really, really deserves it. :)
The first game that will be given away in this manner is one of my all-time favorites, "Master of Orion". Despite its age, it's still one of the best sci-fi strategy games available (it arguably does several things even better than its predecessor, MoO II), and strategy fans who can look past the rather pixelated graphics are highly recommended to have a look. :)
Unfortunately, from time to time, there's a discussion in the "Gaming Deals thread" whether reflinks are okay. I don't really understand this discussion, and it kind of hurts a bit that people see reflinks as a sign of "greed", when I actually just want to give this community something back at no cost for anybody.
Therefore, to participate, all you need to do is to post here, and say "Reflinks don't penalize anybody and give us free games". ;)
I'm not giving this giveaway a fixed end date (I don't always know when I'll be available, so setting fixed dates often isn't a good idea for me), so I'll just end it when I think it has run long enough, and have the time to end it. It will run at least for a couple of days. More giveaways will follow (probably with less silly requirements, I don't think this point needs to be made more than once). Have fun! :)
