I just want to say that this is one of the best looking websites I've seen in a while, good work.
(I'm not counting any of those Flash-heavy sites that you see everywhere now, with their annoying loading bars).
What other well designed websites are there? (No Flash-sites please).

Uhhhhh... Game Central!

Vagabond: Uhhhhh... Game Central!

FUCK YEAH! Thanks for that link - I found out about Serious Sam HD
http://game-central.org/2009/editorials/serious-sam-hd-preview/
Now that's one game I'm so getting. $15USD too. GoG - you really should get this one if you can, I know it's not "old" but at the same time, as the site quotes: "It is a direct remake of the original SS"
What I find slightly amazing is the extremely flash-like effects that GOG has created using just markup, images and javascript. Look at the year one page for one example, that's two jpeg images (, two) on top of each other, with the latter one slowly switching between opaque and transparent. No flash animation to be found anywhere.
Well that new Impulsedriven site looks pretty snazzy. If somewhat familiar. *coughcarboncopycough*
On a more serious note, I do like .<div class="quot quot_text normal_color "><div class="small_avatar_2_h"><img src="/upload/avatars/2008/09/1221240683343_t2.jpg " width="16" height="16" alt="avatar" /></div><span class="quot_text"><span class="quot_user_name">Vagabond: </span></span>Uhhhhh... Game Central!

The layout is nice, but the logotype looks unbalanced and poorly structured.

Glad you enjoyed it! I was the one who wrote that preview and played it at PAX. It's the exact same Serious Sam you guys used to play... but prettier!

We're currently getting a new logo and working on the next iteration of the site. It'll be better.

Serious Sam looked like a lot of fun. But the movies in the demo caused my computer to scream at me. Very, very strange. I don't think I've encountered anything like that before. In any case, I'll be interested in this HD version just to see if it's overcome whatever caused that problem. I just hope they'll make a demo of that version too.

Nice! I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with.
Does anybody use white color scheme? Cause I think it's much uglier than the black one.

I much prefer the light one (it's not white, nor is the other black, rather they're light and dark grey).

It sounds like you're using my old CRT monitor. That thing didn't have much of a use for midtones. :D

On a more serious note, I do like ModDB.

The Impulse home-page looks far more cluttered and colours don't work as well as GOG's more muted tones. (The similarities though are quite uncanny.)
I have to agree that ModDB's got a good looking style. I like the way they’ve taken the top-left corner off all the boxes, its a surprising simple and effective device.

To me it looks like a photocopy. Far higher contrast and far less attractive but clearly a copy of the original when given even the most cursory of glances.
What I like about the ModDB site is how well it's style suits the site's purpose without impeding on the site's functionality. It could use a few tweaks here and there, sure. But generally speaking it's a good looking site.
Oh and can I nominate IGN for Worst Website Design ever? I've seen sites that are just pink Comic Sans on a purple background that couldn't manage to pack in as much Terrible as IGN's abomination.
I use the light colourscheme and find it much nicer than the dark one, but it's a question of taste, and I love the fact that they gave me a choice!

LOL thanks for that. Okay, that game just made the list.
