alostsol: Thank you for the effort you put into trying to find similar fonts asb. Maybe hopefully someone on the GOG staff could reply if a font was used or if the logo was made from scratch.
I asked our design team; apparently the letters were wrought from steel quarried up from the depths of the mountain over which sat Barad-dûr. Quenched in the blood of a thousand Bothans, the final, majestic piece emerged. Wrought with the skill of a lifetime of logo-smithing, the letters remain an iconic and indelible imprint in history.

There are no levels to which Sauron will not descend. He always wins at NetHack. ;)
