Hey all, if you remember I mentioned I emailed GOG to ask about the use of the logo, got a reply today as follows:

"Hello,

OK, I cleared this with the guys and we have no problem with you using our graphics and creating the wiki in general, as long as it's a non-profit project and all that. ;)

Regards,
Peter

GOG.com Support"

So if your all still game looks like we have a green light from the Good Old Guys at GOG.

Edit: if anyone needs to contact GOG about the wiki, it may be worth reusing the ticket: KWC2HM2EFK

Great! Let's sort out what this wiki actually is. I stand by my original proposition of an area for essential information (GOG version info, modding guides, etc.)

I agree, with links to said games and mods, no actual reviews on the wiki unless we were to do it on a grand scale and have a sub page for everything (or at most 1 comprehensive review. maybe a cheats/codes section and linkage to a good walkthrough)

Edit: forgot to close the brackets.

May I kindly refer to my erliear posts

http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/gog_games_wiki/post7

and

http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/gog_games_wiki/post65

to sum up my opinion. I'm generally in line with Vagabound and Reaver. For the time being, I would leave reviews out of it, as we have enough on GOG.com alreaddy. As I said before, each game should have a Moby and a Wiki link. Any general information about the game already on those pages should not be duplicated.

I rather have a small Wiki with only relevant GOG info, than a bloated mess of reviews and opinions. Each gamepage should give all necessary information about the GOG release.

Lets see if we can get this going ...
Bumpity, bump, bump, bump.

Also, bump. ;-)

Is there still interest in this? I'd like to see the pages mostly restricted to the game info itself and information relevant to making it run. Possibly links to strategy sites.

Going further than that is going to just make it a mess.
would join in... anyone already started working on it?

I like the idea to an informative Wiki, stating which version of the Game is to download, when it has been updated maybe(?), if there are language patches, Links to Mods, ...

I could share my server to host it. Even have enought Domains to set up a nice Address :)

That sounds good, i dont know whats happening at the moment, i would have tried to make a atart but i have 0 knowledge or experience making webpages/sites and wouldnt know where to start.
ok... I will take some time tonight to set up an DokuWiki... I think this is the best solution for this, as it is well upgradeable by PlugIns (and free at all *gg*).

Maybe we can set up a 3-5 head group, that are administrating the side?

Any volunteers?

Normally I would decline, as I'm pressed on free time. But considering that I brought this back from the dead, I will try to be of help as good as I can.

So count me in. But I don't know anywhing about webpage stuff what-so-ever. Hell, I can't even put links into a post in this fancy "hidden unter the word way". So I'm more a "Conent-Guy".

But a big thanks to you for bringing this back and being so proactive!
Wikis are quite easy to set up... I will send an instruction to everyone later, when I am done with the set up tonight :)
Sounds like a good project, I'm definitely interested (at the very, very, very least, documenting the "Linux" side of things but I'm happy to help out with other things too).

Consider this an application for one of the "head group" positions ^_^

Also, this could be useful for linking to the various downloaders and other scripts the community have written.. (not sure if this has been mentioned already?)

Already had it in my mind, but thanks for mentioning it, so I am not the only one who thought it would be a nice to have ;)
Happy to volunteer for entry writing - limited experience with Wiki use, but willing to learn. A page per game with info and links about getting games running well, fan mods, enhancements, patches etc is a great idea...
I'd also like to apply for an admin position!
