A rhapsody in red.

Hotline Miami, a cronenbergian psychedelic action-thriller asking some serious questions via twisted storytelling, is available 50% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.99 for the next 24 hours!

Here's a question: how much violence is too much violence? Here's another: if you act on someone's orders, are you still responsible for your actions? And another: if you have free will, does that mean you can willingly give it up? For a seemingly uncomplicated game, Hotline Miami can really make one ponder upon things that people usually avoid thinking about. Surprisingly, it achieves that without forcing any conclusions down your throat, without lengthy dialogs, without any pretension. It just--well--shows you stuff. Red pixels, mainly. Lots of red pixels.

Find out why Hotline Miami became the indie smash-hit of 2012. Experience the fast-paced frantic combat sequences spliced with stealth elements and careful tactical planning. Take a plunge into the psychedelic and mind-bending narrative that will leave you uneasy, with a head full of questions. Open up to the exceptional soundtrack that makes up for the large portion o this game's hypnotic appeal. Take a trip back to the trippy, pixelated 1980!

Hide your face behind a mask of your choosing and find out how disturbingly easy it is to end a game character's life in Hotline Miami, for only $4.99, until Thursday, January 17, at 10:59AM GMT.
I just got this a few days ago but man is it awesome =)
Get it while you can guys. Just don't get seasick.
Hm. The combobulator in the TARDIS seems to have gone out of whack. We should have it fixed shortly.

Dr TET, you are confusing me.
But it's possible you're responding to something I said in the future.

I was talking about the GOG gem promo. But yes, you spotted it. I also got a 404 (palemoon / firefox)
Instabuy. I almost jokingly suggested yesterday that this be today's gem promo. Thanks GOG!
...and so the day came.
Nice deal but game is of no interest to me.
All I know about this game is that RPS wrote a lengthy article about it in which seemingly every third word was "fuck" for some reason, and that pretty much ended my interest in it. Should I actually care about it? People seem to like it, but I always make that original connection and can't muster any enthusiasm to find out more.
If you need any extra info about this game, I wrote a review for it on my website:

For the record, I still play it now :D

stop reading RPS. problem solved.
I was waiting for this promo on Christmas, good thing I didn't buy it then :)
Highly recommended. I actually played through it again earlier today (my second play through). Fantastic game as long as you can stand dying a fair bit (it's one of those "tough but fair" games, like Demon's/Dark Souls). And that soundtrack... awesome.

Why is that a bad thing? :P
Mission accomplished! No money spent today.
But I fear there are troubles ahead as soon the 500th game will be released.
Nice promo.
I would be all over this if there was a Mac version. Happy to wait for it, though..
