The new standard in interactive entertainment.--Bill Gates, 1993

The 7th Guest, a fascinating ghost story with orchestrated soundtrack that launched computer games into the CD-ROM era, is available on GOG.com 60% off for the next 24 hours.

Henry Stauf, the murdering maniac, the power-hungry puppeteer, the master of the mysterious mansion--why did we ever trust him? Why did we accept his invitation? Was there a supernatural force driving us towards our demise? Was there ever a way to avoid it? We are the six spirits of Stauf's guests, doomed for eternity to repeat the fatal night at his haunted house. There must be a way to stop this vicious cycle! There must be a way for our souls to break free! If only someone could challenge Stauf and solve his devious puzzles, there still could be some hope.

When The 7th Guest came out in 1993 as one of the first games released on CDs, it supposedly drove the sales of CD-ROM drives to rise by 300%. Over two million copies of the game were sold, as everybody wanted to see what the new technology can bring to the gaming table. Driven by curiosity, the gamers came to find a uniquely presented horror story with thick atmosphere, creative puzzles, and innovative pre-rendered 3D graphics. The orchestrated soundtrack played a large part in creating the game's eerie mood and the FVM actors added a fantastic horror B-movie quality into the picture. The 7th Guest remains a fascinating episode in the history of computer games, so make sure to visit Stauf's mystery mansion yourself!

Step into the realm of horror, solve the mystery mansion's many devious puzzles, and discover the method to Henry Stauf's madness in The 7th Guest, for only $3.99!
Hm. Bought this one when it came out on GOG, and I've yet to play it. Yay! Backlog! ;)

timppu: I'm still stuck in the tablet top "virus" puzzle in the beginning
Ditto, if you're talking about the Ataxx-like germ puzzle, although I think it's closer to the end than the beginning. The computer opponent is just impossibly good. I practised with some other Ataxx clone to the point where I consistently won every game, but I didn't have a snowballs chance in a hot place against this. I even tried it against another computer opponent that took a fairly long time each turn to calculate all possible moves several iterations to the future, and it still lost,

I think I read somewhere that you can skip one puzzle. This should be the one to skip..

I would be surprised if it was close to end, I don't think I really played it that long. Or then it is a very short game. :) But I guess another try will make me remember better.
What a fantastic promo. This is one of the games that I looked forward to playing when I was first thinking about playing games on the PC. I would recommend the title at this, or any other, price. I already have this one here on GOG; I love saying that. Now all I need is 11th guest.

Hey GOG, how about a monthly theme for Wed. promos? Horror games this month for Halloween? Just thought I'd ask.

As I recall, they had a Halloween horror sale last year, so we might see that again.

(I'm personally hoping for some horror game releases as the month goes on, but I don't remember anything like that happening last year, so maybe that's a pipe dream).

It would be the perfect time to release Clive Barker's Undying.
and Nosferatu.
Elvira guys, Elvira...

BadDecissions: So far, I have to say that this thing is goofy as hell, and calling it horror is really pushing it.
That's what I said, and then I met a clown.

Yes, they did have a Halloween promo last year. It was pretty good. I do hope to see another this year, even if it is just on the Wed. promo.

I agree with you, I too would love to see even more horror games released this month. In fact I think it would be great if horror games had their own category on the game viewing/catalogue page. There certainly are enough of them, hell there are even more horror games here than racing titles and there is a tab for them.

As i have started to play Blood 1, i have to say, it's dark and intense. Definitely gets the Halloween mood going!
It's almost as if GOG is reading my wishlist and discounting the games to make me buy them...
Classic fear.

Now I have both!
