Hi. I have an idea: What if GOG would create it's own Giveaway Website like Steamgifts or Gala Giveaway? It would be more efficient than creating a topic that would get lost in the depths of the forum. It is just an idea but I would be very happy to see this in the future. Please tell if you like the idea and maybe an admin will see it and forward it to the "Big Bosses".

I think its more personal if you create a topic and make it through the forums. You can also combine it with some nice stuff like, write me a nice Poem or Stuff like that.

When I give away games, I do it because I feel like adding something positive to someone's day, and I want to do it on my own terms. There is no concern about efficiency, and frankly, I think that giving efficiency more than minimal effort is usually the wrong way to go about it in human interactions. I also have absolutely no desire to give presents to people who hang around somewhere just because they want presents. A gift should be a pleasant surprise.

To put it more bluntly, I feel gifting sites like that are a collection of people who go around proclaiming "my generosity is great" and ones who shout "please, be generous to me" back. This, of course, isn't true, at least for every user, but I feel a dedicated site introduces elements pleasant gift giving shouldn't have.

Oh if you put it that you. After reconsidering my idea...I think you are right. I never think at it the way nemesismartyn did. I think an admin can now close this topic, right?

An admin could close this topic, but they probably won't, because they like to watch you squirm :p

It doesn't have to be like Steamgifts, but it's still possible for there to be more efficient ways of giving out gifts. For instance, the creator could enter in gift codes when starting the thread, choose a time limit for how long they want it to be open for (1 week max), select minimum rep/date requirements, and have it be temporary stickied for the duration. During this time, people could select which games they want and "vote" to enter them. When the time finished, the creator could alter the list if someone didn't fill the additional requirements, such as posting a pic, writing a poem, etc. Finally, they could use a built in random generator to select a person from the list of people who entered for each game or individually select them, and send them the gift along with an optional message.

Not that I think this would ever happen due to the difficulty of coding it, but it is possible to have more efficient tools to work with the systems as it is.
