MisterMoopers: Doesn't exactly answer my question lol...
avatar
Raze_Larian: Buy all 3, then buy a few extra copies of DD to give to friends. :-)
avatar
MisterMoopers: But I may buy all 3....I've heard mixed reviews about Divinity II.
avatar
Raze_Larian: What are your concerns with Divinity 2?
Keep in mind, I'm a huge RPG fan, more of the RPG side (story, huge characterisation, feeling, etc) rather than the action side...but to be honest, the combat looks pretty boring. Like with the weapon hits...they don't really seem to connect, or like you're not part of the battle really.

Not to mention it's rare anymore that I buy (and really get time to play) games anymore.

All in all, it just seems to get pretty mixed results, and I honestly have a feeling it will end up going unplayed/unfinished, since I seem to have a problem finishing games anymore.
There. Bought DD and BD for myself and DD for a friend. Hope we reach the 20000 mark.
The 3rd video is 17 minutes long. I hope we get the ability to download it or something. I know i can just download it from Youtube but i'd rather download it in HQ from here if it's possible. I'll wait and see if it gets added.

L0stOldGamer: If we had a cart, I would put plenty of DD in it to check out for gift codes to give to random people. As it is now, my CC would freak with so many small purchases... I'm in for a bundle to help the count!
I happened to have a pre-paid Visa gift card with a couple dollars left on it, so used that to get a few extra copies of DD. I'm thinking with a few sales GOG has been having, bundles and Indiegamestand, etc I should just transfer a lump sum to Paypal, and use that for small transactions.

There is a demo if you want to try out the combat, though of course early in the game you're not going to have access to the best skills. There were a couple places in D2:ED when I was playing a warrior I noticed the hits not really looking like they connected, but most of the time it was fine. I played a ranger in DKS, so it wasn't an issue at all.

How is playing DKS as a wizard/mage? I heard it's hard since enemies always bum rush you and don't give you enough space to cast spells.
I know it sounds horrible, but watching the video released for 20,000 makes me reconsider wanting to buy now. A lot of the cut/changed content and designs look better than what I saw in the demo when I played it. :|

Meh, fuck it, I'll just buy DD. Knowing me, I'll end up either never playing 2, or never finishing it (I haven't finished a game since Dark Souls (including Skyrim) and I bought both on release date for Xbox).
I found the lack of headshots in archery combat in the Divinity 2 demo to be rather unsettling. Also, a friend of mine is warning me that the game operates on a limited scope as to how many monsters you can kill, due to the lack of any respawning. So you're effectively limited in gold/items/exp through the course of the game.

Ya it does. Blame the publishers though. None of the big ones wanted to hire them. :(. The truly good ones always lose in this industry,
Okay, so it isn't actually "Pay what you want for Divinity Anthology". It's "Pay what you want for the parts of the bundle we want to give you for that amount".

Not to complain overmuch, but as a long-time GoG recommender who has bought around 100 games here, this seems a bit deceptive. It also seems a bit self-defeating to promote it this way and not follow through. I already have Divine Divinity, and per the reviews, have no interest in the unfortunate sequel, and already have the Dragon Knight Saga through Steam.

So, what's it worth to me to add specifically the "God Mode" functionality of Divine Divinity 2 to what I already have bought? $5. Paying $5 through the offer gives me... nothing. So, you don't have the $5, and I don't have the missing piece of functionality that is worth that much to me. Isn't this outcome, for both of us, rather contrary to the whole idea here?

Oh, if only Kickstarter had existed back then. Well, I just put in $12.51 to help the cause for future projects. Not much, but it's something. :)

Combat is much like Diablo in that a hit is a hit no matter where it connects. You're right, there's no respawning, but if you really want to grind, go through the flying fortresses on foot.

Divinity 2 on Steam is getting upgraded to the Developer's Cut.

Thanks for the info, Kotep. I'd have felt even worse discovering that I actually wanted to pay $12.50 for it here regardless of what I had thought I had wanted to pay, when Steam upgrades me. ;)

Big_McLargeHuge: How is playing DKS as a wizard/mage? I heard it's hard since enemies always bum rush you and don't give you enough space to cast spells.
I have not played a mage, but you can make a very effective build, especially with the changes to enchantments in DKS (magic damage bonuses on weapons are applied to spells, so duel wield; you don't need to bother with the associated weapon expertise, as the off-hand penalty isn't taken into account for spells).

At the very beginning of the game you'll probably have to fall back on a bow or melee combat at times, but there are a variety of ways to deal opponents that get into melee range (Hide in Shadows skill, turn an opponent to fight for you, summon an ally to fight and as a decoy, etc).

There are critical hits based on your skills / stats / enchantments, but you can not target specific parts of an opponent.

chthonical: Also, a friend of mine is warning me that the game operates on a limited scope as to how many monsters you can kill, due to the lack of any respawning.
There are a couple places where opponents can respawn in the D2:ED section of the game, and more places in FoV with respawning opponents (reduced after the associated quest is completed, which you can delay, if you wish).

Especially after you get the battle tower gold is fairly easy to come by. There is a technical limit on the amount of loot and experience you can get (other than using the Developer Mode to cheat), but what you can get is more than enough.

Larian is working on a patch to add the Developer Mode to DKS (not just the Steam version).
Nice, thanks people for making to the 20000...
I liked the video... (just watched)
