However, indie developers have shown a strong interest in the GOG model and I think that an indie GOG is not completely impossible sometime in the future when they've branched out a bit.
I think publishers also go along for the ride to keep franchises, names, trademarks, etc. alive and in the interest of gamers.
It's also kind of free publicity as they can say that although they're selling games with DRM today, they can or will sell them without it in the future.
As for a GOG indy platform, GOG should get out of beta first to offer kind of a total solution for indy developers.
I'm quite sure that if GOG has planned something like this within the next year, they're already talking to indy developers.
