Qwertyman: Philosophy is my favorite subject outside of physics. It's a shame that it's a fairly pointless degree in our job market. The study of philosophy is very valuable, but the degree just isn't.
Really? When I lived in California, a couple counselors told me that Philosophy is extremely valued as a secondary degree in the job market. All by itself, it's pretty much useless, but if you add Philosophy to your Medicine, Law, or Physics degree, then it's a clear indicator of an inquisitive and creative mind, and recruiters tend to like that.
I really wonder what kind of answer were you expecting. Unbiased opinion on GOG vs Steam debate on GOG?

Yes, as a pre-law degree, philosophy can be an excellent preparatory undergrad degree, especially if one focuses on logic and ethics. I was referring to it on it's own, going straight into the job market after a bachelors. Obviously selling oneself is more important than the type of degree they have, with a few exceptions of course depending on the field a person is trying to get into. But most employers consider a philosophy degree as being too generalized and abstract for today's more aggressive job market.
Get both and beg for food until you have money again.

...What? If you seriously wanted a well reasoned and unbiased answer, you wouldn't be asking on the gog forums :P

Umm, it wasn't a GOG vs Steam debate. It was asking advice about which of two deals to go for that these two retailers had at the same time when I could only afford one or the other.

What did I expect? A variety of answers I guess. I didn't give it much thought. Maybe some Steam bashing - just because and I got that. I got about what I expected and then some, including:

A comment that Empire Earth alone was worth it for the GOG deal.
Comments that both deals are good, etc.
Advice to go with GOG now where Sleeping Dogs is likely to be on sale a lot.
Advice that Judge Dredd sucks.
Advice that Judge Dredd is great.
Advice that Judge Dredd isn't great but doesn't suck either.
Advice to buy Sleeping Dogs on Steam.
The obigatory "Steam is evil" comment.
Advice to borrow or ask someone to buy a bundle for me.
A blue post reminding me I don't need a client to run GOG games.
Advice to buy Sleeping Dogs but get one GOG too instead of the DLC
A joke about Judas doing anything for 30 silver pieces.
A link to random.org for a coin toss to decide - which I used to decide.
A little discussion of the I Ching and the study of philosophy
More commentary on Judge Dredd (who knew anybody would care?)

As you can see noted above, I got a lot more than "Steam sucks, buy from GOG." And I very much appreciate all of those responses. It was a fun little discussion.

Well... Yeah, but it's pretty obvious that when you ask on GOG discussion boards about games on GOG and put them against a (comparable, i.e. not way better or way worse) game on Steam, the general consciouseness will always be to buy those on GOG. I'm just poking fun at you a bit for this being pretty much decided right on the start :-P

The coin toss decided but GOG did win and to be honest, I was leaning towards GOG from the outset myself. ;-)
Lol, is that possible that nobody is buying games on GOG now? :D Because every game you mentioned on your list is in top sellers on main page now :D

dirtyharry50: That's the question guys. What do you recommend here? Time is running out for both deals soon!
