I recently used the new GOG downloader to download Fallout Tactics, and when it finished it gave me this weird .gogdownload file type that I have no idea how to open, if anyone could shed some light on what I would use to open this thing, that would be great :)
This question / problem has been solved by Destroimage
Have you installed adobe air and the downloader properly?

There's a known bug with the current beta version of GOG.com Downloader that occasionally prevents renaming .gogdownload file to .exe upon successful download. Try renaming file.gogdownload to file.exe manually - it should work. Our dev team is working on an update to the Downloader app that should fix this bug.

Good to hear. I had that same problem and opted to not use the downloader in the end (I didn't realize I could just rename the file).
Thanks a ton, I didn't want to have to download 1.5Gb all over again :)

Two years later and it's still happening.

Two years later, and it's still happening, and the file itself (half a gig) is corrupt.

Try without using the downloader.
Epic thread resurrection, by the way.

Because Adobe AIR is shite and thinking it's good is probably the biggest mistake GOG have made. Just download using your browser. As long as you don't need resume you'll be fine.

that is so true, we shouldn't blame the programming, and instead we should blame the framework.
wait, what?

He has a point, you know. I've had experience programming with Adobe components, and it's a nightmare. They do really weird things with access permissions, and if you need something to run in a Citrix environment, you can forget about Adobe entirely.
