orcishgamer: Bastion
SPAZ
Batman AC
Sequence (holy shit was this good!)
Deus Ex: HR

Probably in that order, few AAA titles that really stood out this year.
I pre ordered Deus EX: HR, something I rarely do.

I was left disappointed. Boss fights annoyed me (I was playing a weakling stealth/hacker character, more fool me.) Furthermore I kind of.. just stopped caring about the plot. Adam just kept having chicks screw him over as he bumbled along.. I dunno. Pity.
The Witcher 2 or Deus Ex 3. Both have outstanding aspects and I can't really pick one over the other.
The Wicther 2, mainly for the huge step forward from the first game in terms of storytelling and characterization even if character interaction is still lacking a bit in my opinion. I honestly thoguht The Wicther solid as a debut title but one lacking a bit in virtually every area to be considered a mind blowing title, but the The Witcher 2 delieverd in just about every way i was hoping it would.

Minecraft, for the sheer number of hours i sunk into it. I don't even want to think about it.

Bastion, came out of the left field, for me at least, and delivered an unexpected all around great experience.

Yep, I absolutely love that one. I do feel a bit bad about getting it for only 1€ though, I might buy some more copies at some point .

I got it later on, knowing already about the boss fights I wasn't turned off by them (especially since all but the last one could be reduced to, throw 5 frag mines, fight is now over, really, all 3 bosses took 10 seconds to kill on Give Me Deus Ex mode, I had to reload 3-5 times for the quick moving ones to hit them, but that's not problem).

I put no points into combat stuff and still won the game with ease.

Haven't played many new games this year, in fact I think I've only played Skyrim, Portal 2, and Dead Space 2 of the 2011 releases. Of those, I'd probably choose either Skyrim or Portal 2, but since I do not have to choose, I'll go with both. :)

Check out some of the indie games, imo, many far surpassed all the AAA titles in quality, especially Bastion.
1st: bastion
2nd:Deus Ex: HR + missing link dlc
3rd: witcher 2
4th: portal 2
5th: to the moon
6th: dungeon defenders / Orcs Must Die!
i would put deus ex hr on higher if those boss fights weren't there

Was UC3 really GOTY material? I'm not a player of the series but the reviews did not make it sound much more than good (at best), certainly not something that will be considered outstanding years from now. Bastion will be, however (imnsho).

Austrobogulator: Ghost Trick.
Oh, this too. One of the funniest and most charming games I played last year <3

What ??? - the reviews were praising it to the skies..

Metacritic
Uncharted3 - 92
Bastion - 87

and i'm sure i saw it win several GOTY's all over..

i definately don't think it's the best game of the year.. but UC3 is definately Top 5..
However reviewers sure seem to think it's GOTY material, so idunno what review you had read..

23 out of 94 reviews are perfect 100/100
Time to be unpopular (that's really not something that will stop me).

AC: Brotherhood got its PC release in 2011, and it's probably the best game I played last year. Now that all major titles are console ports (the witcher 2 included, they just did it the other way around), I have to accept frustration with sub-optimal controls. Overall, I liked it best of the games I played. I'm really looking forward to starting AC:Revalations, just got to get Skyrim finished off (which isn't that good, very repetitive, quite uninvolved). Much as I hate Ubi-DRM, and all the tie-in to their services, the game's really good.

Ok, flame away, keep in mind it's 5:30AM here, and I haven't slept yet. Oh yeah, and say hi to you mother too.
Bastion definitely!.
1st place: Saints Row The Third (PC)
That's my game for the fucking millennium.

2nd place: Deus Ex Human Revolution (PC)
A little too linear to take 1st place for me.

3rd place: Ore no imouto ga konna ni kawaii wake ga nai portable (PSP)
Pretty much the only game of its genre that I've actually enjoyed a lot.
