Hey good folks at Gee Oh Gee dot com, not only one of the best forums on the toobz, but THE BEST company on the toobz, wanted to share and ask a couple of questions if okay.

During my (brief) hiatus from purchasing here, I found other sites I never really knew much about, and one of them was GreenManGaming. Bought a couple of titles there, and they required Capsule, a client like Steam. However, it appears that, unlike Steam, Capsule doesn't have an offline mode option, in that it needs to log in every day, thus resulting in me losing the ability to play games I bought and paid for if I ever decide paying $100 a month for internet isn't worth it anymore (well, that includes phone but most of it is internet). Is this right??? Anyone with any experience with capsule confirm or deny that??

Next, I watched some videos on configuring dosbox because I often have some serious trouble running games I purchased here at gog, or at least running them well, and learned some tips on adjustments to make to DosBox. However, to my surprise, when I went into my gog game folders, it appears there is no longer a DosBox config file to edit anymore. Is this correct or did I miss it somewhere???

How do you guys make sound adjustments to DoxBox (sound is always the biggest issue for me with older games) with no DosBox config file???

As always, any and all help is appreciated, and all comments receive +1's for answering, even if just to call me an asshole (which is technically correct anyway, so it deserves a +1).
Re: DOSBox:
Each game should have its own <game>.conf file. Which game in particular are you wondering about? (Perhaps we can help you locate it)

You've probably missed it. The config file isn't located in the DOSBOX folder, but rather in the actual game folder just above the DOSBOX folder. It usually starts with "dosbox"+ an abbreviation for the game. Some have a separate file with "single" at the end containing autoexec code, version-specific parameters and the like.

When it comes to sound, the two parameters you'll be interested in are blocksize and prebuffer (both under [mixer]). I've found that blocksize=1024 and prebuffer=5 usually does the trick, but you may need to set higher if you're getting stuttering and crackling. Setting either too high will cause too much of the sound to be buffered and therefore cause noticeable sound lag.

You're an asshole ;-)

Apparently capsule has to validate the game file every 3 days to make sure it hasn't been traded in yet. So yes, if you had no internet then you should not use it unless you figured out how to patch the title to remove the Capsule DRM.

And you're not an asshole. You are the powerful gripping muscles of the ass. Firm and strong. B)

I don't know anything about Dosbox and I don't know you to warrant offenses. I do wonder tho, how the balance between +1 and -1 will play out, asshole.

Here's a screenshot of the game folder and but I'm don't think I'm seeing this or am failing reading comprehension again (rather badly, sorry).

In that case, the conf files will be in the Lords of the Realm I and Lords of the Realm II folders. They're seperate for each game.

The .conf files should be in the specific game's folder, so "Lords of the Realm I". I think Lords of the Realm II is a windows game, so it won't have a dosbox config file.

Oh, DOH, I see, I just clicked on Lords of the Realm and forgot there were two games underneath that.

Sorry, my bad.

Yeah, I found it now.

THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH.

I think they've all been answered now. Yes, GreenManGaming's Capsule DRM is actually much worse than Steams in that one must continue to have internet access in order to play their games whereas Steams offline mode works indefinitely. Will never buy at GMG again. And I found the DOSBOX config file.

As always, you guys are amazing. Thank you.
