JonConley: Comparing us to EA asking for handouts is pretty insulting. Perhaps, someday, you'll be on my end, and you'll understand that.

Also, get real: you think that an "8-bit" or "16-bit" title (I'll assume you meant pixel-art) doesn't take a lot of work? Check out "Cortex Command". Go ahead and google that, for a second.

Games are a lot of work, and it takes a lot to make an impression. Those that played this genre of games know what to look for, and that's who we're catering to. It doesn't work for everyone (clearly, you), but it doesn't have to. That's the beauty of indie game development.

You don't have to support us with your money, but do your research before you shit on someone, please. When's the last time you saw someone from the games industry come into a public space, and publicly address concerns like this, eh?

Either way, you've made up your mind. That's fine. You're not the first person on the internet to be negative. Just realize that it's insane to think that we'd rip you off; can you honestly believe that? At the very least, if you walk away with one bit of knowledge, walk away with that. There are much easier ways to scam people, than to crucify your name, your company and your IP.

lowyhong: Ditto, exactly what I think.

People don't realize that the whole process of making games is not that easy, and how they easily insult the developers. Thanks for your attention displayed here, Mr. Conley.
More than any other reason, I think that is the core issue with many of the Kickstarter games that don't reach funding. The average gamer doesn't know about the cost, time and effort involved in making games, especially not complex games like modern 3D games tend to be (of course, not something specific about gamers, the same is generally true about movies and other media - though game development is probably a lot less straight forward than most), which obviously makes it hard for them to judge what exactly it is they are funding.
I saw this:

taczillabr: It is Multiplayer-only at launch,
and was about to fall to the floor pissing myself with laughter.

But then saw this:

taczillabr: the Single-Player and Co-op will be free to all pledgers post-launch. ;-)
And took a look at the page.

My random thoughts on all KickStarter projects is that the general gaming community often times seem to contribute more to funding games in general than they do to fund completed games helping charities.

I understand the developers usually require about two years salary compensation to merit them to sit at home and finish the game rather than spend forty hours a week getting yelled at behind the counter of a Burger King but at the same time these KickStarters are taking place there are also desperate charities taking place.

I'm not well to do myself, but if I were and had 5 grand to toss at something right now, more-so than helping produce a game in the works, I'd rather offer it towards a young girl fighting cancer.

nijuu: Not surprised it failed.Too niche and also MP only unless im wrong

taczillabr: SP and Co-op after launch.
If that is the case, because the game is first and foremost a MP centric game (nothing wrong with that for the right people), those wanting SP will realise it will be just tacked on (ie BF3/COD style etc) & most likely lose interest quickly in the project.I sure i know i did.

It depends how well they develop the AI and how many offline modes they include.

Unreal Tournament 2004
Killing Floor
Section 8 Prejudice
Enemy Territory Quake Wars
and
Payday

Were all made with MP in mind but the developers were also professional coders thus good with AI resulting in all five titles having enough replability and content for those who can't get online.

Payday is probably the best example of an MP done right where it is the exact same game offline as online the only difference being decent AI VS Human Intelligence.

A quick update:

http://groundbranch.com/2012/07/ground-branch-was-seriously-wounded-but-the-soul-still-burns/
They're doing a survey on how to improve future Kickstarters:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/670743543/ground-branch/posts/266067?ref=activity

Please cast your vote for a single-player campaign as Most Important if it matters that much to you. This is our chance to get SP with AI team mates out of the box.

Yeah please vote guys, if you want to have your input and to have they focus the game more on Single-Player.

My vote was basicly this:
SP 5 (a 5 rate)
MP 4
Co-op 2
Collector's edition 5
After 2 long months there has finally been an update on ground branch meaning the game is still alive and in development, 4 updates actually:

Thank Goodness this Tactical Shooter is not dead.
BUMP

I am not leting this die because of the Obsidian Kickstarter popularity thank you.

This sub genre of Shooters used to be very popular, but now its barely alive here in the PC Space and I don't want it to die.

And I don't want Arma being the only Realistic Tactical Shooter Game here in the PC space even people playing Arma now are just using it for the DayZ mod :(
