SirPrimalform: Hmm, I have all of the games apart from Tower of Eglathia already. Am I missing much in skipping Tower of Eglathia?
Not at all. I've finished it yesterday and I'm not impressed. It's not a bad game but the only thing done right is the difficulty (it's very difficult but I do like it in roguelike games). Cons:
- A lot of stats and skills which is rather inappropriate for a game where you simply move on your opponents to kill them (I prefer when simple roguelike mechanics remain simple)
- You have to choose your background story but the game lacks any role playing elements whatsoever. So that was only to alter your stats. I know it's a pet peeve of mine but I think devs should either make a game with serious character development (moral choices, consequences, different sides of a conflict that you can aid etc) or none at all (which is perfectly fine!). Here you got just a little bit of it and it just feels very artificial.
- At the beginning and at the end of the game you get video where the dev (I assume) explains the plot. Well... he is dressed funnily. I guess he thought that would create a nice atmosphere but... oh, well, check the attachment and you'll see it yourself. Two words come to my mind: awkward and lame.
