So i finally got fast enough internet to be able to actually play online. (4Glte mobile hotspot) So the thing I'm wanting to play most is GTA 5 online. It works fine the first day or two. Then after that it's almost non-stop connection problems. I managed to play long enough to make some friends and join a crew. Most days I'm able to play for about an hour or two amongst all the time-out errors and connection errors and simply not being able to connect at all.
Once you make friends it really keeps you trying to play even though it doesn't work 70% of the time. But i finally just lost my patience. It's really driving me mad and filling me with seething hatred. I'm not the type to throw my controller or rage quit if a game is hard,... but the constant connection issues made me throw my controller across the room!
I just decided to set my console to offline mode and say "F--- It!" to trying to play online again.
I don't have these connection issues on PC games. The problem is I can't find an online pc game I like that anyone is playing. I hate MMO's. It needs to be a single/multiplayer combo game. The servers for Arma 2 and 3 mostly require passwords or are empty. I can drop in someone elses game of Dead Island2 and start playing coop but most of them drop out just as soon as I join because they don't wanna play with some random stranger. I played a few hours of Project Zomboid online but the multiplayer scene is too fragmented with every server running a different branch of the beta.
I can't play the pc version of GTA 4 online because I disabled GFWL (and that is about to be abandoned anyway).
The multplayer mod for Just Cause 2 is pretty active and fun,.. but it gets boring quick.
Minecraft online is pointless unless you're playing with friends you have in real life(because other players don't interact with anyone unless they already know them. All you do is the same stuff in singleplayer all by yourself but online. What's the point?
Anyway.. after finally getting the ability to play online after a couple of weeks I realize I wasn't missing anything. Either the games are broken or no one is playing or players don't interact. Online gaming is crap.
