I bet the drivers probably suck though. BSOD city all over again.

cjrgreen: Graphics pros are snapping up the Titan and Titan Black as fast as nVidia can make them. They have an instant market for the biggest damn GPU they can build and sell. The Titan line competes mainly with their own Quadro and Tesla lines. Titans have fast double precision floating point. 7xx's don't. This is a big deal to the pros.

nVidia is positioning themselves as a supercomputing company. Gaming is more and more a small tail on a much bigger dog.
How well does the GPU computing compare to the Quadros and Teslas? I'm not a graphics pro, but it raises my curiosity.

Another post mentions AMD R290x has the same performance as a Titan, but I wonder if that is just for gaming or does the R290x do other things that the Titan can do, like compete with a nice Quadro card?

JudasIscariot: I am soooo suggesting to the folks in charge of the purse strings here just to see their facial expressions :D

"Could we have 2...for the test lab?"
Tri-SLI or GTFO

i bet ultima underworld would run pretty fast with that SLI setup.
What is this, the 1980s? Haven't seen such prices for single components in quite a while, these kinda prices were not uncommon back then for high end components but nowadays this seems like overkill, more aimed at making people talk about the brand rather than creating actual sales.

Well, finally something that is guaranteed to run Star Citizen well enough for those of you planning their next setup around that game.
Why don't they use the technology to get into the supercomputer market instead of fitting the tech in a graphic card that will end up being used for number crunching anyway?

That's exactly what they're doing. Did you see their graphics on supercomputing? They're rather proud of themselves.

The top 10 "Green 500" supercomputers are all based on nVidia K20 Tesla cards, which are the same GK110 GPU.

And what they really want to do is sell you a rackmount case with eight Titans ready to turn your 3dsMax and Maya models into a real-time holodeck.

There are some games out there that are such shitty console ports that even with the GTX Titan Z, you'd still get less than 25 fps from these games, I bet.

Reminds me of Morrowind with mods. I have a very high-end computer and I still can't get a solid 60fps with the Overhaul mod.
