I play games, I work in front of a screen and I get tired eyes because of this. Do you guys know anything about these glasses and are they justified in asking $99 for them?

I haven't used the product, but I doubt it's a joke. There are screen glasses to reduce eye strain from using screens for a long time, they're usually marked towards general computer use instead of gaming, but yeah.

No, they're not going to work. The reason why people get eyestrain from playing video games for long periods of time is largely due the eyes not blinking sufficiently to keep the eyes lubricated.

Other problems can be overhead lighting and backlighting.

The glasses aren't going to do anything about any of that.

Do you wear glasses?

If you wear glasses, you may be getting a lot of eye strain from reflections/refractions. There are many different coatings that can help remove those glares. The Gunnar Optiks has a coating on it, but it's not top-of-the-line by any means.

If you wear glasses, talk to your optometrist about glare reduction. It helps a lot.

I wear drivewear. It's almost identical to the Gunnar Optiks glasses, but it has my perscription built in and it has all of their features but by far better. Mine are in the neighborhood of $300. All in all, they do work. They improve your ability to see some contrast and they may increase your overall ability to game without eye strain if you currently wear glasses. If you don't wear glasses, then I would suggest changing the lighting in your gaming room. Use no overhead lighting and reflect the light off your walls. If you need more info, I can see if I can find more. Half of my family is in the eye business.

Optometrists have been selling these kinds of lenses for years. Ask one about them, they work for some people and not for others, depends on the kind of eyestrain you get.

This is why I love eInk so much: no backlighting. Ah and now I find someone who's actually ponied up for the good stuff and can recommend it!

If the OP is still having trouble after having addressed the other issues related to eyestrain and gaming and is still having issues, then it might be worthwhile to consider glasses.

Optometrists don't typically recommend those for folks without other eye problems though and they shouldn't be suggesting that gaming for hours on end isn't going to inevitably lead to eye problems.

I just got some of these on sale and decided to search for topics about it.

They seem to do exactly what they claim. I have natural lighting (both windows and warm CFLs) in my computer area but my screen is very harsh in comparison. I hate to change the color temperature of my monitor because it almost seems "wrong"... white should be white... and it always seemed to be less clear when I do that.

These seem to solve that issue, at least psychologically. When your whites are slightly tinged you at least see that a sheet of white paper on your desk is tinged the same way. They unquestionably boost clarity, which is almost a little unsettling at first. When you take them off, the monitor seems extremely harsh (though everything else still looks fine).

There is an extremely slight focus adjustment in the lens (+0.2) - they're not perfectly clear like sunglasses. They are designed for near work, so don't get them for a console. If you look into the distance, you need take them off, otherwise stuff will be defocused. They're different from driving glasses in this way.

I didn't get them for gaming, in fact I probably wouldn't use them for gaming. I got them for all the other stuff I do on the computer.

I knew they were doing something when I wasn't using them for an hour or so and realized I was squinting. I put them on and could feel my eyes relaxing. They're extremely comfortable and light, I could easily wear them all day.

You still need good lighting at your work station, possibly even more so, since these still cut down light reaching your eyes, even if it is just the blues.

Are they worth $99? While I wouldn't pay that for these, I figure what I paid (almost half) was worth it. Use your own standards for how valuable a good pair of sunglasses are to you. Presuming you go outside once in a while ;)
