Leroux: How about assigning them as homework to your students, then let them summarize the most important things or provide you with savegames for the more interesting parts of the games and spare you the grinding or whatever is most time-consuming. ;)
I wish, I'd be the most popular teacher ever. I don't think they're even allowed to touch a computer during the week. Being able to play a game even as homework would almost certainly go over well.

DukeNukemForever: Good to hear you solved your problem and it ended in a happy end ;-) Also thanks for the offer.

You still can improve your safety without spending much money. I would move from Avira Antivir to Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast. When in my clique a computer was infected most time Avira was used and few weeks ago an update paralyzed windows, that's why I would not recommend it. With Avasts update to version 7 I had some problems running some of my freeware tools (Avast was very restrictive), but maybe they fixed it and you want to try it.If you use Firefox you maybe want to install some helpful add-ons like NoScript, WOT and Adblock. Noscript disabled all scripts, only from you allowed pages can run scripts like javascript, flash, etc. WOT warns you if you went to an unsafe page (based on community votings) and adblock blocks advertisement. Also keep all your software ( especially Windows, Browser, Virus-Scanner, Java, PDF-Reader, Flash) up to date.
I've thought about getting rid of Antivir anyway, the ads in the free version have gotten even more intrusive and annoying since the last version update than they already were before, and the rate of false alerts vs. real ones was probably about 50/50 or worse. I didn't get the impression it did a lot to save me from actual attacks.

I've got Avast on my netbook and so far it seems okay, but I also noticed that it complains about some of my freeware or indie games and tries to prevent me from running them. Maybe I should try Microsoft Security Essentials; a friend of mine seems quite happy with it.

I've also got Adblock, but I didn't know about the other two add-ons, thanks!

Leroux: I think sometimes it takes away half of the fun of a jest when you declare it as one immediately after. ;)

Still, there's always the risk of misunderstandings and people being offended, especially in an environment like the internet.

Anyway, from my point of view Gamerager and lugum are heroes for giving me a motivation to support charity and the guys behind the Adventure bundle which had a very slow start unfortunately and doesn't seem to be the success they were hoping it would be. :)
I agree...I just sometimes have trouble figuring if people were offended by my humor or not when I read their replies. As such, I often do a 180 and try to apologize profusely afterwards.

As for the games, I am enjoying BTDT immensely, so thank you once more Leroux. :)

lugum: i wasnt offended at all, and i am a person of sarcasm myself too so dont worry about it ;)

GameRager: Well I am glad. BTW I am offended by only one thing you do....I hope you don't mind if I admit it though.

It is this: Why no bloody capitalization of you sentences? :p

:D
i dunno, guess years of typing like this. also spell checkers do it just automatically :p.

gameon: I've no idea whats been happening, but to gamerager, i think you mean well, but just chill out. No need to be hyper.
I told a joke, and some others followed suit. I thought they were being serious business and apologized as quickly as I could.

As for now, well it seems we've all made up(as it were), so no more worries. :)

I use MSE and while it hasn't caught everything, it never gave me any false positives either. It seems to be fairly effective.

Most of the time it doesn't really pay off to try and figure out what other people might think of you, just be yourself and don't worry about them too much. :)

Yeah, that's also part of why I suggested it. I really love BTDT and TGP is even more hilarious. :)

It sounds like a cliché because this kind of praise has been overused for each and every point-and-click adventure during the last decade and most of them didn't deserve it in my eyes, but - those games really brought me back to the time of the 90's LucasArts adventures.

Good advice, to be sure. :)

***SPOILERS***
Only thing that's getting to me is the choosing which area to explore first in BTDT. (I like using every inventory item on everything/every scene I can to see what funny lines the devs made for them, and unlike in other adventure games some items are "used up" to access some of the new areas, meaning you can't try those items later on in the other areas.) Otherwise the game is a smashing riot. XD

GameRager: ***SPOILERS***
Yes, I guess it's hard not to miss the occasional joke, there are just too many possibilities. :D

And I think it's genuinely funny and original, even when it tries to parody something, while the parodistic humor of many other adventures pales in comparison to the classics they refer to.
