Hey guys, I'm interested in buying Avadon: The Black Fortress off Gameolith (missed the bundles with Avadon and Avernum games in them, shame GoG doesn't have them either). But I've never heard of Gameolith before. Has anyone here bought anything from them before?

Also, how do you all keep track of what games you've bought from where? I try to limit where I buy games from so I don't forget where (this is the biggest downside to Spiderweb's avadon/avernum games not being on GoG for me).
never heard of them myself.

I'd just put a text file in my game folder that says where I guess, except then if you had to redownload on a new computer you wouldn't have that file anyway.
Mostly though I'd just remember because no matter how many games I'd buy there are only maybe 5 sites they'd have been from(not alot of places to buy a digital copy of a game and return later to reinstall it that i know enough to trust) and i can check 5 sites easily enough.

edit- oh, you meant which you own like how not to buy a game twice....
I pretty much just know which games I own/have played and my only issue would be finding where (only times I maybe wouldn't is if they were bundles and if I bought duplicates it'd likely also be in a bundle so couldn't avoid them if i did since i only buy bundles that have something i want and the rest is just extra. and i'd probably also check that text file I mentioned to make sure. especially if a title or picture looked familiar or I were on the fence on a bundle and already having some other games in it or not would push me to one side.)

so this post is generally pretty unhelpful on 2nd thought

I use backloggery to keep track of what games I own and where:

I did, and it worked pretty well. Site however is a bit slow i wasn't even able to login to their support centre. On other hand this seem to be the only place when you can get Linux version of Avadon, so for me it was worth the risk:)

They're site is slow because they recently had a problem and were out for several days, today is like day 2 they've been back. And thanks for the info all :)

I actually keep my games on an external HDD and organize them by vendor. I create a seperate folder for each vendor, then create folders for each game purchased through said vendors (even if they're duplicates), it's a bit redundant but it keeps my games nice and tidy.

You can just download the games and move them to another place... then play them directly that way on other PCs you own? I thought that DRM free just meant you can DL/install unlimited amount of times on any of your systems. I didn't think you could do this since most times I've played DRM free games through DLing you just DL a small installer which will connect to the website and install, thus leaving a registry key on the system it installed in and limited playing to that 1 PC. I'VE BEEN LIVING IN THE DARK AGES THIS WHOLE TIME? :O

Uh... Yes. Are you serious? That's really the draw to DRM-free games you know, archiving them away in the event of an apocalypse.

:)

Like I've stated before, every time in my past I've tried to do that it never worked.

Then you were doing it wrong.

Have you tried disconnecting from the internet after the installer has been downloaded successfully. You should try that out it really works with GOG games...

I'm wondering though, how many games you can actually unpack and then copy to an USB-Memorystick and play them somewhere else without Admin Access, like at work or something :-)
