It's been over twenty years, and I still haven't been able to complete this Metroid clone. Maybe because the version I got was second-hand and without a proper manual. I've even tried playing through Ovine.net's remake. I guess "confusing to a fault" is a uniquely British quality.
Even testers.
I thought you meant one of these:

I'm going to pretend you're talking about Myst III. Yea that last puzzle is crazy hard.
I did actually complete this back in the day on my trusty BBC Master, although at the time I didn't realise I had.

I found it far to difficult to rescue to the two survivors of the first mission so I slaughtered them mercilessly with several grenades. When I eventually got the destinator back to the Pericles all that happened was the engines fired up and little else. I thought that I had failed due to my killing of the crew members.

I later discovered that that was the ending. They original BBC version of the game was so tight on RAM they didn't even have enought left for a congratualtory message.

Brilliant game though. In my opinion the best 8 bit game ever. Happy memories!

Nick.

Hah! I was going to post that.
I played it but like a lot of games back then it was too difficult. I did find a bug/glitch/f-up where if you press open on the doors and then lock you can get trapped inside the air lock with no way out. teleporting gets you out usually but do it a few times and you'll be stuck teleporting to the locked airlock.

That was my first thought as well, then I read the OP.
I found something. It's an Amiga Longplay from cubex55. It's fairly recent, from last September. I guess the guys at the Longplay Forums finally got my request. I just wish they'd notified me about it.

@nmge
I'll bet the Amiga ending is a little different, given it's vast superiority over any other machine of its day.
I thought you were referring to Myst III: Exile.
If I meant Myst III, I would have said Myst III to avoid confusion. It's also why I posted a link to an article on the game in the OP.
