I can get the pre-game setup menu running, but the actual firewarrior.exe doesn't seem to want to run. After launching, I can see it running in the Task Manager for about two or three seconds, and then it closes. I don't get an error or anything.

At first it gave me a couple of errors about not having Managed DirectX components and .Net Framework 1.1, but after installing those I haven't had any other error messages.
It might be a DRM issue, I know several games had problems with vista blocking even temporary DRM drivers. Could be worth investigating ways to remove the CD check from the game by searching the dodgier parts of the internet
A crack didn't work, though you have given me an idea. I'm going to download the XP Mode software later tonight, and install it in Virtual XP, and hopefully that will work.
I'd rather pull out my fingernails than play that game again. Why can't someone make a decent W40k FPS?

Edit: Shut down your firewall. Some firewalls block lots of things without warning you. I have Comodo Firewall on Vista and the thing you describe happens to me all the time.

I played it on Vista a while back.

If I had a firewall, it was either Windows or Kerio (not sure how far back).
I had a rough time getting it working on XP, so I can only imagine what a nightmare it could be on Vista.
I happened to like the game. I have a special place in my heart for cheese and camp.

Anyway, the error I'm getting is something about a "Version tag mismatch" or whatnot. I think the game thinks I'm using a crack.

Anyway, I can't it to install in XP Mode. For some reason the installer doesn't want to install across a virtual network (which is basically how XP Mode connects to the "real" PC, I guess).
Im pretty sure XP mode doesn't support Direct X or Open GL, so it wouldn't have worked anyway. Its meant for business software. Thats why its not included in the home versions.
