I've been trying since it was first posted and the Steam demo isn't downloading.

$15 is a but much for something that might give the finger to SSE.

I preordered it and will be giving it a go after work today, will let you know how it goes. Looks quite promising imo.

I think its an xbox live game also. All games on there have demos. It is on PSN too. So if you by chance have either game console you can check there. Otherwise you are stuck as steamworks games only have demos on steam unless the company does another one like with Torchlight 2.

You running an old SSE processor? That's my main concern. Most new releases over the past year the developers haven't been bothered to access the defaults and switch back on SSE recognition.

.Demo still a no go - I've got the $15 to spend but not going to do so on something that may not work.

I've got over forty games already right now that don't recognize SSE.

Just curious, why exactly can you not run the demo though Steam? The game uses Steamworks no matter where you buy it from, so if you want to buy the game anyway it's going to run through Steam no matter what.

I fixed the situation - My usual Zealand download location is stuffed up for that game for some reason. Switching regions to Japan worked just fine.

Oh, shoot, I went and read the original post more closely.

Let me guess, you were getting some kind of "no subscription" error or something? If that was the case, you just have to restart Steam.

Naw it was getting stuck while downloading - restarting didn't help. After posting the above I also had to run from Japan - The server I found now serves me at 2megs a minute. *wiggles eyebrows*

But, alas, it seemed to recognize SSE yet they left 'Reach' off so still a no go.

Funny that, considering Valve won't sell the game here. The developer states this is because Valve require Japan specific agreements. So to upload it to the Japan content server seems a bit shite of them.

But then again, just because you selected Japan as the download region, it doesn't mean you actually connected to the content server here. In fact a lot of us in Japan have never managed to connect to it. For years I used to get rereouted to a really shitty content server in Malaysia (which would give download speeds of 5 kpbs to 50 kpbs). Now, I get routed to ones in the US.

And that would explain why I had to ditch that server too.

I jumped on San Jose - 2 Megs a second. Previously I've never gone over 300 kb/s with Steam.

Amazon recently put up download servers in Europe for games only being sold in the US. I guess it is for the troops ;-).

The troops can't buy here either. Hence the fiasco when Activision had COD MW2 IP blocked here. Since then, they've not IP blocked another one =)
