Hi Everyone
my question is not for the feint-hearted. I have the CD version of Master of Magic. I downloaded the patch 1.3.1 and a lot of mods. I must be totally inept because I cant get any of them to work even though I tried to extract them to the original Master of Magic file. I am wondering if someone....a very patient someone...would walk me through where to place these files when I extract them.

I also have the same question about Master of Orion 3. I downloaded the patch 1.2.5 and tried to extract to the original Master of Orion 3 file.

Thank you all for your consideration

Tanya

Hello and welcome to the forums :)
First of all did you download and install the latest version of the mod that can be found here:
http://realmsbeyond.net/forums/showthread.php?tid=3663

These are the instructions so I don't think there is much that needs to be done.
1) Unzip into your MoM folder, overwrite existing files.
2) Before playing game, check Game/Settings screen, if the settings are correct

Also are you on the official 1.31 before installing the unofficial?

Hi
thank you for your reply

Actually I am not sure I downloaded 1.4.0n I think I did. But I have a new computer now so I will now. Do I need patch 1.3.1 too. Also I did not understand question 2. when checking the Game/Setting screen what should they be to be correct.

I think in no. 2 Zurvan was referring to this from the forum info page for the Insecticide 1.4.0n patch:

in the Game settings screen there are 2 new options in Extra difficulty departement: "Revolting raiders" and "Mosters gone wild". Be careful - the stability is unknown & it can be quite powerful, sometimes

It means that when you see these difficulty options available in Game Settings than it will be confirmed that the patch is working and also to select whatever features you want to start the game with that are incorporating the improvements made by the patch. And you don't need any previous patch so you can just install the latest 1.4.0n directly.

Hi everyone

ok that does clarify things, but my main question...as with Master of Orion is that when I get these patches and mods...where do I extract them to so the games will use them. Also for Master of Magic specifically I am supposed to use Dos Box ...it always gets confusing where to put them so the game uses them.

In the link that I've send you (and where the unofficial patch it) it says to put it into the MoM folder, I think they refer to where the .exe file is. This is the case with all patches. So for MoO go to this link and if you read the instruction it says:
Important:
!! Before you patch/play, you should BACKUP your Moo folder. !!
- Unzip the files into your Moo folder and play.
If the game crashes (or you experience a bug), go immediately to the Moo folder and conserve for me the save7.gam file - please

Just go to this website and you'll see other info and other mods for both games :)
