I clicked on the preorder now button of the Witcher 2 page expecting to be taken to a page asking for information from me etc. Instead, there was a page saying I just pre ordered the game. Is it possible for me to cancel? No, I'm not insane but my laptop's graphics card is weaker than a 8800 so I wont be able to enjoy the game until I get a new computer. I might still purchase the game before May 17 but that depends on many factors, not sure yet.

GameRager: You don't have to buy even if you preordered. You can pay up until the end of the month I believe.
What do you mean pay up until the end of the month? If I choose to purchase it, I don't have to pay until the end of the month?
And if you decide not to, your pre-order will be simply cancelled. There is no need for any additional action on your part.
Ok, thanks everyone for making that clear for me. :) So if I do decide to preorder and buy the game, what do Germans get other than The Witcher 2 and 1 free game?

They get the same as everyone else. The full list of stuff is here. Note that you can get the avatars, bonus tracks, wallpapers and artwork without actually paying any money, you just have to click the preorder button. They're in a zip file you can download from the link once you've clicked. The other preorder stuff requires you to pay up first.
I recently read that EU customers also get $16 credit because GOG doesn't want us EU gamers to get screwed compared to U.S. customers.

Yes, if you pay in Euros then it ends up being more expensive because of VAT due to not taking the exchange rate into account properly, or some sort of other gibberish. GOG can't actually sell it for the "correct" price, but at least you can get something.

Note that because GOG just recently starting allowing you to manually input your country of origin in your account settings, it's now possible for EU customers to pay for games using USD instead of euros, completely bypassing the entire issue. I have no idea whether it's actually legal to do so, however.
I get the The Witcher "sexy" calendar too, right?

No that one is for the first witcher game, unless they added one for the second tooo and i'm unaware of that.
If I decide to buy the game, how do I buy it after preordering? Do I just buy it the same way you buy other GOG games, by going to the games catalogue?
Buy it here: http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_witcher_2
So people can purchase it without clicking on the preorder now button. Then what is the point of having a preorder now button?

Shot in the dark: financing. Having some concrete numbers for investors to keep under their pillows and feel a little safer.

Promotion, since pre-ordering enabled a user to download some bonus content.
I considered buying a copy this weekend of the WItcher 2(if after Saturday, I was not listed as one of the gold winners in Skystrider's competition) but sorry GOG... I did some calculating and saw that I can not afford to buy the Witcher 2 anytime soon... I hope that doesn't matter to you guys though because I hope you sell 1000000000000000000000000000000 copies. :)
