Iain:
About the only post ive seen that makes sense so far.

Though I'll add part of the food prices is due to WHERE the steaks (for example) come from - along with quality, the snootiness of the establishment, taxes and other factors.

Much more to it, but as I've just seen this, bit late for me to continue on this path or it may become drivel!

StingingVelvet: We're not drinkers. I'll google those two locations though, thanks!
The Temple Bar area has some good restaurants too, though some are bit hidden.
You can do a tour at Guinness and visit the bar in the top of the tower. It gives you a nice view over the city.
We did the Guinness tour, but not the Jameson tour. We did a tour at the Famous Grouse distillery in Scotland a year earlier.

StingingVelvet: I import Doctor Who DVDs from Amazon UK. Each DVD is about £7, which is a loooooot cheaper than $25 or so in the US.
You are taking into account that Amazon UK does not charge overseas customers VAT, right?

Yep, price is deducted in your shopping cart, so even with postage you usually only pay around £1 or £2 more than the price with VAT. At least in my experience. The same is true if you're a UK customer sending your order overseas. As long as the delivery address is not in the UK, VAT will not be charged.

Yes. Actually £7 is the VAT price, when I put them in my cart they usually lower to £5.50 or something like that. However then shipping adds about £1 per item, so it goes back up again. Basically I just see the price on the site as the final post-shipping price.

Going back to Dr Who you mentioned, make sure you take a trip into HMV whilst here, they have loads of offers on DVD's and you may be able to pick up a few discs quite cheap

Yeah I asked on my Doctor Who forum and everyone said to check out HMV for sales and Forbidden Planet in London for cool stuff.
