Brace yourself, Ned. The 2012 DRM-Free Holiday Sale is coming!

No, there's no release today. But there's a good reason: starting tomorrow, we'll be starting our winter season / festivus / celebration of your choice sale, and we know that you'll be thrilled about it.

What's the sale going to be? Well, we would hate to spoil the surprise early. But we'll be offering your favorite games for sale at prices that should warm even the grinchiest of hearts. While you're waiting, though, we've started some holiday celebrations--you know how we love to give you guys gifts--and you can enter into our week-long holiday-themed caption contests right here, if you're so inclined, or stay tuned for more holiday silliness in our forums as well as on [url=https://www.facebook.com/gogcom]Facebook, and Google+.

Tell your friends, hide your ducks, load the caravans, and get ready, because we're starting the gifting season early with a huge game giveaway tomorrow along with our sale, so you know you don't want to miss out. In the meantime, snuggle up in something warm, drink some eggnog, and we'll see you all tomorrow.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course!

Miaghstir: Note that he said it will impress, not whether it'll make a good or bad impression.
In English, 'impress' always has a positive connotation whereas 'make an impression' could be either positive or negative.

...I really need a vacation. Looking forward to the sale and playing games. :)

grviper: Imagine several weeks of nothing but a discounts on Incoming...
I'd personally be more excited by new releases, but I guess that's because I don't have time to game really. :P
Now you guys shut up and take my money! :P

Hmpf. Language is seldom logical, is it?

Awesome, can't wait.
Excellent!!!!!
new releases on during the sale by any chance?
hmm, wonder if this one will be the usual "50% off huge chunk of catalog with some publishers drifting in and out of the sale" or something more interesting.

TheEnigmaticT: In anticipation for the huge spike in traffic tomorrow, we've taken offline some features that add a lot to the server load. This will be turned back on Friday or Saturday. :)

cyboff: It must be something HUUUGE then, not "just a huge sale"... something like release of game from all-time top 10 of community wishlist :D
(I read what you wrote about releases, but who believes you? Not me... :D)
I'd expect the heavy traffic will be due to the game they're going to give away.

I wouldn't be surprised if I owned it already since that's always a good chance of happening (with me owning slightly above half of GOG's catalog). Oh well. I'm still looking forward to seeing what's in the sale.

Retroman: would love to see some franchise packs... collect EVERY Kings Quest, Gabriel Knight, Rollercoaster Tycoon, every game by a certain publisher into packs. think it would be nice. my 2 cents

PS: OOOOH, AND FOR PETE'S SAKE, RELEASE ONCE AND FOR ALL (!!!) THE ALPHA CENTAURY EXPANSION, GEEEZ!!!!!!
Wouldn't say no to some System Shock, either.
My guess for the game they're going to give away? King of Dragon Pass. To my knowledge it hasn't ever been on sale, it's a genre that appeals to almost everyone, and it's gotten high praise from the community. Seems like a good choice.

It's too newly released here on GOG to be given away for free.
