Is there a demo or ANYTHING I can put on my system before shelling out the money for this game. As a child of the 80s this thing was made for me but I want to make sure it's playable on my end. Several people in this forum have told me that as it is a homage to "retro" it can run on less than spectacular systems ie Torchlight. Still, I'd like to know firsthand.

Nope, no demo. The author of the game has gone on places like piratebay and told the people there he accepts them pirating it if they can't afford the game and wanted them to have the best version. Even with that though I haven't downloaded it to try it. I'll get the game soon, but I'm holding out for it to show up as a daily deal as I have far too big a backlog to pay full price for a game unless I have to at this point.
Just believe in the magic of friendship!

Thanks. Think I'll skirt around it myself for a while and get a feel for it. If this guy is that much of an indy I doubt I'll need a HAL9000 to run it.

I thought Hotline Miami was based on the magic of LSD and Acid.

Searching for Hotline Miami netbook turns up results of people running it on Intel Atom processors with GMA graphics. So if it can run on that I'd imagine you should be able to run it unless your system is ancient. Especially if you can run Torchlight 2 on there now.

I thought it was based on a misprinted phonebook and some guy receiving all the wrong number calls.

Greetings fellow child of the 80s. We had the best toys to play with. The GI JOE action figures and vehicles back then were amazing.

Not a bad idea. I did the same thing and less than 20 minutes in the game gave me a headache, which i pretty weird as that has never happened to me before.

Hopefully that ends up not being the case with you.

I had the fort, the AirCraft Carrier, and the Spaceship. Buddy of mine had the Terror Dome but he beat the hell out of it. No respect man!
Not related to original post but i thought this is a good place to chip in my thought.
I'm running Windows 8 x64. The game works fine.. on it's term. However once you get further you'll find the game is bit problematic with random crash(es). It's unavoidable. For examples, you can't boot your game, have to reboot your PC. Your game will crash when certain sounds being played or certain object being animated, like the glasses window and uzi submachine gun on later part of the game. It is also quite sensitive with your Windows' background processes and services. Some of them could interrupt your game, cause it to crash to desktop.

It's hard to pinpoint the exact cause of all these issues and the developer also admitted that. I don't think it's only related to WIndows 8 since Windows 7 customers also report the same problem on Steam forum. It's very good game if you can get it working without those issues. Hopefully the developer will not stop working on all the fixes since the game is good and got tremendous publicity because of it's quality.
Update.
Just FYI, I've got it and she runs great. The only problems worth mentioning are the crashes but those are negligible (and in this case forgivable) and really don't have anything to do with specs so much as the fact that she is more or less a "patchwork job". It actually reminds me of "Mission Impossible" on NES, the difference being when you died in M.I. (which was OFTEN) you had to start the whole damn level over. In this when you die (which is even MORE OFTEN) you just go back to the beginning of the room.

It's worth mentioning that the glass/uzi thingy has been fixed with the latest patch.
We just need it on GOG.
Right now i'm stuck at Chapter 6. Not sure whether i'm permanently stuck or not, gotta try again later. Basically, once one of my foe fire his special weapon (looks like some sort of machine gun with high firing rate), the game immediately stop working.

Honestly, the game reminds me of the final scene in Roadhouse for some reason; the one where Swayze takes the fight to the bad guy's mansion.
