i got a game since 1995 called space sirens 2 and i cannot install it in vista !!
i am getting a message :
the version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you are using.
check youe computers system information to see whether you need an x86 32bit or 64bit
version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.
i tried to go to the setup.exe file properties and change the compatibelity to run under win95 and it didnt work i checked most of them and still didnt work.
anyone knows a clue for this ????????
i tried to run setup in dosbox, and didnt work i got message that this is under windows program, so i cant run setup.exe in dos mode.
HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can't run 16bit applications in a 64bit OS, it only supports 32 & 64. The best chance would be to try running a virtualPC (its free) with XP (or even 95/98 if you prefer). That or dual booting with XP, that works well too but its way more complicated to set up

Space Sirens 2, the adult game ? That's not a Windows 95 but a Windows 3.1 game because it was released in 1995, before Windows 95 was released. That's a very important difference because DOSBOX DOES let you install Windows 3.1 so Space Sirens 2 should work fine there. If I can find it, I'll give it a try on my own installation to make sure.
Go to virtualbox.org, get Virtual Box and load up a copy of Win 95 in the virtual machine. That's honestly your best bet. You can emulate old, old hardware in there too.

That may actually be harder than using DOSBox though because DOSBox works by mounting an ordinary hard drive folder while any emulating using a drive image will cause extra headaches getting files mounted or extracted. Also, DOSBox emulates the real Soundblaster 16 to such a degree that the real drivers work in Windows 3.1 meaning you got true Soundblaster support which no virtual machine has been capable of so far that I know off. Like I said, it's NOT a Windows 95 game and Windows 3.1 is a lot easier and quicker to install plus is far more stable.
well i have tried almost everything and still coudnt install the game.
how about i upload it to gog.com , they propably can make it work as the rest of the old games!
you could post it on the wish list and then gog may put it up on the site !!

A porn game? I wouldn't hold my breath. I'll try it when I get home.
You're pretty much screwed. Which means your space sirens won't be.
Maybe you can find a Win 95 machine somewhere? Although that would be some serious dedication to the space babes.
The game works perfectly in Windows 3.1. If you had tried that, it would have worked so I guess you didn't take my advice.
what do u mean I havent tried it as windows 3.1 ?

I don't mean to be smart but you could install a 16bit app on a 32bit box copy the files over to the 64bit box and make the proper registry entries. I know because I have had to do it. Its usually just the installer the 64bit box doesn't play well with.

Well thats interesting and something I didn't actually know but if you had a 32bit box anyway, wouldn't it be simpler to just use 16bit software on that?

Yeah that is true but usually it's the Installshield setup that is 16 bit. Windows 3.1 games are 16 bit by default and as such, the entire thing is 16 bit + Installshield wouldn't work in Windows 3.1 anyway. Part of that, is that there are no registry entries - Windows 3.1 has no registry. At most a INI file.

Do you know what Windows 3.1 is? It's the first popular Windows version that runs under DOS and that came before Windows 95. Space Sirens 2 is a Windows 3.1 game, NOT a Windows 95 game. It's 16 bit, comes with Quicktime 2.0 which didn't even work well in Windows 95 and even has a readme for Write which didn't exist anymore in Windows 95.
If you tried Windows 3.1, it would have worked immediately because there's nothing extra you have to do except install it. With Quicktime installed (and it asks during installation) the game works perfectly.

DOSBox is an emulator/virtual machine. Yeah, if it's a Win 3.1/DOS game DOSBox is maybe easier or you can try finding some other virtual machine software that has support for emulating Win 95 or DOS. The point is, virtualization is your friend in cases like these. You can get emulators and virtual machines for C64s or pretty much anything these days.
