When I click on a shot, it takes over the browser but there is no X to close it.

Hover the mouse within the screenshot, an "X" should appear in the upper right.

EDIT - Ah, I see now, the "X" doesn't appear on IE8 (I use Chrome), not sure what you can do other than report the bug to GOG through the support links.

In the meantime, press ESC to close the screenshot.
