Books: Good lord, never more than one at a time. Not even cross genres.

When it comes to games, I try to alternate between something story driven and something where I don't have to pay much attention to the story/characters/etc.
For example, right now I'm juggling Killer 7 and Gears of War 3. Works pretty well.

I do one chapter/area at a time then alternate. If the game or book is decent, it basically means I can enjoy it a lot longer. :) And if they're not, I usually don't go back to them.
For things I think are *really* good, I usually play or read it all in one sitting. :O
Gemini Rue was the last time I did that with a game, it's rare

Well. first, it is good to pick games and books that are roughly the same shape and size. It IS possible with different shapes and sizes, but it is quite hard. It is good to start with just one or two books/games at once, to get a better feel for items you are going to juggle with.
Here comes the hard part: Stand firmly on the ground and throw BOTH items stimultaneously so you catch them with the other hand. Done? All right, now just throw item in your right hand the air so it lands in left hand, and hand the other item to the right hand via the air.
End of first lesson on how to juggle with games/books

The only time I will ever read more than a single book at one time is if they are completely different types...say, one sci-fi fiction and the other a history of German panzer divisions.
For games, never more than one from any genre. So I'll happily play an RPG and a FPS and an RTS, but you'll never see me mixing a second game from any of those genres in until I'm either finished the first or just done with it.

I'm only able to play 1 game at a time. I can play 2 at once, but I inevitably settle on one of the games or even worse quit both of them. However, I can read 2/3 books at once and not get them mixed up.

I usually read one book at a time sifting through a chapter or two at a time so I can keep my place, although currently I've ended up reading Wind up Bird Chronicle and 1984 at the same time and my backlog's clogged up a bit (Snuff, Kafka on the Shore, 1Q84, and Callahan's Crosstime Saloon).
I'm pretty terrible when it comes to sticking with and finishing games, though. :(

Get engaged in whatever feels most interesting at the time, which means I'll leave off games for 6 months or so before getting back to them... or I'll simply never come back.
Today I was playing more Red Dead Redemption multiplayer despite having many unplayed games and having played the hell out of RDR, if you have moderate disposable income and you tend to spend it on gaming or books you'll quickly have way more than you can consume. Just enjoy the best ones and write the rest off for posterity.

I tend to install every game I buy and leave it installed (I have two rigs, and multiple hard drives on each one). This leaves we with a wide range of choices for games. So it depends on what I''m in the mood for as to what game I'll play. If I'm not in the mood for gaming, or after a gaming session, I'll read for at least an hour.
I generally have several books on the go at once - usually a minimum of three - from different genres. Usually something non-fiction, something sci-fi and/or fantasy, something mainstream fiction, and possibly something else. For example, right now I've got Brian Greene's The Elegant Universe, Stephen King's Just After Sunset, an anthology of the year's best sci-fi stories, and Alan Bradley's The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie on the go. This serves me well, as usually I'll click with something and just read until it's finished, then go on to one of the others. It really depends on my mood as to what genre I want to read.
I don't watch much tv at all, but I do take a break from reading and gaming every now and then and watch some movies.
