Hi,

Soorry for mentioning competition... :)
But I haven't ever tried Humble bundle... And while GOG is the #1 for me and I love it...
Just thought to if this HB would be any good at all...
They seem to be offering at the moment, some nice platform games for a few dollars.
So I thought if any goggers had any suggestions...
Is there some hidded catch there :) and if HB is steam related I can forget about it.
Sorry to go fishing info here, but I really had a hardcore busy week and gotta go back out in a few minutes again...
Well, try the 1$ tier and see if you like, pretty sure you'll not regret. ;p
And you can upgrade your purchase later...

I think all the games in this bundle are DRM-Free + Steam.

If you pay a dollar or more you get both DRM-free downloads of the games plus Steam keys. You can just ignore the Steam keys if you don't want them. You'll still have the games in DRM-free form to download, keep and play. I've bought from them a number of times and no problems. It was a good experience and a really good deal for the games. This current bundle does look very good. I am planning to buy it myself at the higher tier so I can grab all of them.
No catch. Just a bundle of games, and you decide the price.
Humble Indie Bundles are usually DRM-free. When you buy the bundle, you will be given a unique URL to a page where you can download everything you bought. No extra applications are required to download and play them - just download them straight from your page, install it, and play.

Sometimes big publishers like EA or THQ will have a bundle, and those will require Steam. Humble will always tell you if there is any DRM or not (see attached picture.) In this case, they are all DRM-free. You get Steam keys in addition to DRM-free if you pay more than a dollar, but as dirtyharry said, you can just ignore those.

The "Humble Weekly Sale" and "Humble Store" will have icons above or next to the titles indicating if they are DRM-free.

I too have bought quite a few bundles, and have never had any problems at all. It is an all around great website.
As for the current bundle - I have only played Antichamber out of this group, and that alone is worth beating the average.

I hope that all made sense. I'm a bit lightheaded at the moment, so please forgive any spelling errors, etc.

The current HB is DRM-free and can also be unlocked on steam. You should check each bundle, because some of them are steam only, however they always make it clear on their page.

The website is very good and I've lost count a long time ago of how many bundles I've bought. If you like what they are offering, then I suggest you don't hesitate but go ahead and buy.
You can get the first tier for $0.01 if you don't care for Steam keys. Some feel bad about that because they think it's for charity (HIB only picks big charities that can get them tax write-offs) or because the devs deserve more money for their games (valid point for all of them except FEZ. Dev is an ass).

As a customer it's up to you to decide these things, but it usually boils down to "What's the minimum that I have to pay to get what I want?" So $0.01 for the first tier, $1 for the first tier with Steam keys (some of the games come with Steam trading cards), and the above average is always changing and always includes Steam keys.

They are very much legitimate. They are the first bundle corporation and have already made over 1 million dollars from this particular one.
nevermind.

As others have pointed out pay more than $1 for the basic tier if you want Steam keys.
Pay less than $1 to just get drm free downloads (people do this just to get soundtracks if they dont want the games). Up to you. Interesting comment by one of previous posters about the charity thing...
Steamkeys are actually gift links - if you want to use them you have to link your Steam Account to Humble to allow the game to be activated (that should be pointed out). Their Indie bundle normally has both DRM free downloads and Steamkeys, however their other bundles mostly have Steamkeys only. Make sure you check what you get :)
thanks everyone for info!
it's been an interesting read. For someone like me who don't have Steam installed (maybe it's just that I have always played DRM-free games and can't change...) that first tier games deal with such low price sounds nice.
But then the charity won't get much. Maybe I'll wait for some really good games and then pay a bigger price and then just throw away the steam-keys :)

Yes it's good to know all of the games there are not DRM-free. Pixel Pirates - a game I'd really like to buy - is not, at least there. Have to keep a keen eye these days, not just for system requirements, when window shopping games online :)
