I bought the bundle. Wish they didn't combine most of the games into one Steam Key. I wanted to give away the CoH games. -_-

timppu: But GOG is still refusing to sell games that fight against their principles (like games requiring online authentication), which makes me respect them even more.
avatar
CaptainGyro: Well selling games with drm here would be business suicide, because that's their main selling point now.
Really? Yet, at the same time some people just claimed "DRM-free" is irrelevant from the business point of view.

htown1980: ugh.. my unsupported opinion based on conjecture and anecdotal evidence is better than your unsupported opinion based on conjecture and anecdotal evidence.

wow, you are seriously linking anecdotal evidence?

thanks heaps, you've totally proven your point!!

ugh

SimonG: Edit:

Not to mention the whole "Old games" principle....
GOG never promised to sell only "old games", whatever that means.

Yes...really. Whether a few other people claimed whatever doesn't do much to change my opinion because I don't believe them. Many people obviously come here for the drm free aspects, which can be evidenced by the people voicing their displeasure here and countless other random DRM posts on this forum. GOG itself constantly mentions the DRM free part as a selling point here, in interviews and in conferences.I know classics are also another big selling point, but if they have drm on them what's going to make people want to buy them over here instead of other places that sell them? Yeah I know there are a few smaller reasons, like regional pricing and extras but those aren't the MAIN selling points. But whatever. You don't have to believe me either when I say that it would be business suicide , I really don't feel like getting into a debate about it. If you want to raise your respect for gog go ahead. The whole point is I still personally see no reason to have my respect raised for gog out of this

StingingVelvet: Their IP will be bought and released by others, it effects the consumer very little outside of maybe someone competent getting their IPs.
As easy as getting a digital copy of Prey today...
Maybe an other company will buy and sell the IPs, maybe the games will vanish.

Did someone realise, that there is no Warhammer Game in the Bundle? Because Games Workshop wants money from the games to and maybe they were no fans of pay what you want. I am afrauid that the whole Warhammer franchise will be gone if THQ goes bancrupt, because the IPs belong to Games Workshop and the games to THQ.
Everybody chillax!

It is better for HB if you tell your friends to pirate the game instead of breaking up the bundle and sharing out parts. Also pirating it is a lot more honest for doing something which in principle is the same.

I am going to make this into a macro, I think.

jamyskis: I'm not sure what planet you're living on, but no 'average gamer' that I've ever encountered or know actually praises Steam.

More or less everyone I know sees it either fairly ambivalently, as a 'necessary evil' or hates it. I know just one person who praises Steam, and he is truly a PC extremist that denounces anyone who plays on consoles as retards and is a truly unpleasant person indeed (but I have to work with him, unfortunately).
WElcome to the real world. Steam is a great Service. I can play my game everywhere. I get updates patches and DLC without any problems. Except for Collectors Editions i switched to digtial complete. I only buy Steam and Steamkeys from GMG or Gamersgate and GOG.

I can easily backup my games, but this is unnecessary because i can redownload them every time I want. Maybe all my games are gone if Steam goes out of business, but this is very unlikely...

Sorry, but how does that make sense what you just told me?

Why would it be better to pirate the entire bundle, than to break it up and giving out some of its games? I already have CoH plus one of the expansions on DVD and the Valor expansion in DD format I bought a couple of years ago.

I wasn't going to share the games. I was going to give away the three CoH games/expansions to one person.

SimonG: Because the Humble Bundle was about PWYW and giving a part to charity. That were there cores, that is what was able in every bundle so far.
It's pay what you want
DRM free
Cross-platform
Helps charity[1]

The vast majority of the promotion videos have these as the selling points. Saying that DRM-free is not as much a part of Humble Bundle because there is one bundle that breaks it, which is the one people are complaining about, is quite a leap of logic.

Especially after the Humble Guys themselves explicitly stated that it was a core part of it.

[1] Shame on you if you didn't hear it in The Voice :P

no, you are buying a bundle. It is in the ToS that this is a bundle, not a collection of single games. You want to share your bundle which is for one person with someone else. In this light it makes perfect sense for HB to give only one key, as you are supposed to have only one bundle per person. Anything else is basically getting keys illegally, which is same as pirating in my book.

You did not buy 1 copy of Darksiders, 1 copy of of CoH, 1 copy of Metro 2033 etc. You bought 1 copy of Humble THQ bundle. If you want to give you friends those games, buy another bundle for him. It is quite cheap.

Anyway, that is all I am going to say on this matter.

/sigh

I don't think you understand my original message. Why would you assume I am trying to do something that is against the ToS in the first place.

KEY WORD: "Wish they..."

It was a casual statement. Take it casually and please try not to read into it so much and make a deal out of absolutely nothing.

Since my "WISH" will never come true, it doesn't matter anyway. Boom, done, move on. More HB in the future to buy! Casual statements... Eg: WISH this ketchup tasted less like mustard.

It's legally the same. Both are unlicensed copies.

That would completely defy the concept of forum in the first place ;-)
