We have come to Week Forty-Five - Week Twenty-One of the Storm

For those who need, you can find an explanation of "The Storm" Here

I can not believe that we are at Week Forty-Five already, only Five Weeks left until we reach that magical number Fifty. So, buckle up its bound to be a rough ride as the Storm continues to Rage. As is the case in any storm - when the winds rage and the rains pour down; your neighbors things sometimes blow into your yard. So too with our Storm; as this weeks prize has been kindly donated to the giveaway by Benderz. So please make sure to thank him.

This week we will be staying with Steam and one of the Best Indie RPG's of 2011 - Avadon: The Black Fortress

Up for Grabs is one copy of:

Avadon: The Black Fortress

Defenders Quest - (2 Copies)

*** Update *** Seeing that this week we are on Steam and Giving Away an Indie RPG; Steam just put Defenders Quest on Sale and I am adding two copies to the Giveaway. You can update your entry or post a new one.

*** Update #2 *** Ok - Since I made a mistake and said Defenders Crown instead of Defenders Quest - I want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to adjust their posts or re-post in the original thread. I am going to leave Week 45 up and running and Start Week 46 tonight and do the drawing on Monday Night next Week for both giveaways. Sorry for the confusion I just wanted to add the game and on second thought should have kept it for another Week. Let the sign ups begin...

Discussion this weekend - Indie RPG's. Do you like them? - Do you hate them? - Are you old school? or Do you prefer somthing a bit new?

As Always - The Hall of Heroes can be found here

Nicely done Lou. Not in mate, but as to the discussion, I can't say I've found the indie rpg experience to be great on the whole - often i find the artistic elements very lacking, along with basic concept design (though I am biased of course).

+1 and please count me in. I love indie RPGs and wish there were more companies like Spiderweb.
I'm all for indie RPG's, although sadly I must admit I've had very little experience with them so far, unless you count The Witcher games, which I love to death, as indie...

Thanks for another great giveaway Lou, and thank you Benderz. +1.
Not in, but +1!

I love a number of indie games, FTL, Expeditions Conquistador, Waking Mars, but I played Eschalon Book 2 and was really disappointed. Graphics don't have to be great for me, but the story was pretty bland I thought.
Thanks Lou, I already have it so not in.
Not in but another +1 for your continuous wonderful generosity. :)
Not in, but here is another +1!

This is only my opinion, but given the quality of the RPGs in the last 10 years (more similar to shooters and hack'n'slash games with unbalancing character development than to stat-based tactical combat goodness), I think indies are the only ones that can redeem the genere. I trusted them enough to back quite a few projects on Kickstarter since 2012, so I surely hope I'm right! ;)
Maybe I am a reactionary, but I like my games either 100% RPG or 0%, and I really cannot get into hybrids.
Oh wait this is steam version? In that case I'm not in.

I like indie RPGs because they are more old school and often are actually interesting games unlike "awesum button" AAA RPGs.

Not in, since I have it already! I have to say I haven't gotten to playing the indie RPGs I own, since I still have so many classic/mainstream/newer RPGs to play.

But I did start an Avernum (demo) playthrough and it was...okay, I guess. Gotta say I'm accustomed to better graphics and such, but I can't really say anything about the game, since I haven't gotten to the proper story yet.
I'm a "timeless" player, I can play a very old game and switch to the last release after that. For me, graphics and game performance don't matter if you have a good gameplay. That's why I often like indie games, because the important point is often gameplay.

Of course, not in for this time, but a huge thanks Lou for this wonderful event you're making :-D
Not in, but thanks Lou.

Thank you for your generosity that just keeps on rolling. +1

Count me in.

As for indie-RPG's, while I do not have a huge amount of experience with them, I can say that I usually do like them because they often try to introduce new mechanics or ideas into RPG's. It does not always work that well, but in general, those changes can be quite refreshing.
Play ALL games.

I like indie games, specially when they have the balls to try something new...

In for this guy.
