Aliasalpha: Didn't infogrames buy the atari name (which was then attached to practically nothing) to give themselves a reputation boost when they went into publishing? Instead of people saying "who the hell are infogrames?" they said "Woah, atari is back?"

Gersen: But there is a little twist here, it's not Atari that owns Infograme's games... it's Infograme that own Atari!

Atari is Infograme, technically Infograme bought Atari's name (because of the brand recognition) and slap it on their product, not the opposite.

lukipela: Does it say "games made by atari" ?

Jwrath: No, but games that ARE made from Atari have their logos on, like Fahrenheit.
If I bought Atari, could I release a series of their games as Jwrath games wave?
Yes.

This. +1

Infogrames renamed themselves Atari, but it's still the same company.

Using the ridiculous house analogy ( =P ), it's as if John Smith built a house and then changed his name by deed poll to Funky McSly. He's still the one who built the house.

And besides, Infogrames/Atari are just the publisher so it doesn't really matter which name is on the games since it's the developer that matters. Atari aren't stealing the credit for all of Infogrames's hard work, because Infogrames didn't make the game.
