Here's a story

On that special day the storms came. Denizens of New Canada City had been warned, but few had expected the nature to rage with such zeal. The sky seemed as if set ablaze by the constant sparks of lightning, and the violent winds were making a mess down in the streets. So strong was the gale that it tore trees off the ground more as a rule than an exception, and only fools, the ignorant, and the luckless dared to venture out into the howling chaos. The most pitiable of them were the luckless, who were not there out of negligence or deluded trust in their own abilities, but as a result of events out of their control. One of these luckless was Marianne, or Mary to her close friends, who was crawling in a ditch. It was a very special day for her, and not merely because the storm was trying to make it her last. Just an hour earlier she had been home, in relative safety, when the winds had thrown a tree branch through her window and smashed her boob tube. She needed a boob tube, badly. She needed to have one that day to keep living, so she had set out on a voyage to acquire a new one. After what felt like an eternity, Mary finally reached an electronics store and then jumped through a window. Then Batman came out of a hat and beat up the storm and everyone was pretty happy about that.
