I am Galactus!

Haha. Really I just started taking probiotics. I recently watched this video:

http://www.keybiotics.com/video_toonGo.php (history of food processing in America, candida fungus overgrowth, probiotics)

These guys are trying to sell their product, of course, but I found the content of the video interesting and read more about probiotics. I've been taking a multivitamin for a while now, and I decided to try adding a probiotic, too.

Also, I love the narrator's voice. It's just... pleasing to the ears somehow. He could probably get me to at least consider buying anything. ;)

Are any of you taking probiotics? Have you observed much benefit? Feel better in general?

I knew a girl who regularly ingested 280 million lifeforms at a time and that made her very popular.
Well, I am lazy, so I can't do pills, but I think if you eat various foods which have probiotic and prebiotic propensities, you can get nutrition AND pro/prebiotics. Personally, I favour milk, yogurt, bananas, and honey. Same thing with vitamins- no need for pills if there's food. But I can understand the convenience factor for pills.

Also, I read somewhere that not over-washing and overcooking your veggies is favourable for your gut bacteria.

But I disagree with the writer about his second sentence- the other contributers he mentioned are just as important as diet and gut flora; more often than not, balance and moderation is helpful.

Also, your thread title is awesome, it really gives a scope of things. Bacteria, man- they've got life and survival down to a T.

i've taken them a few times after illness which upset intestinal biota. These gut bugs are crucial for digestion, so they are critical to health. If our guts cannot adequately process our food, our organs are not getting the nutrition they need. We might not feel the affects right away, but our organs are constantly deteriorating. Without the right components, our bodies are unable to fully heal. So yeah, gut biota is important. But i can't speak to how well Probiotic capsules and tablets work. i guess it depends on the manufacturer. But there are natural foods which also help populate our guts with beneficial bacteria. i begin learning more of this now.
