There are a few games that I would consider.

Victoria 2 (Grand strategy done incredibly well! Set during the Victorian era, you get to play ANY nation. A game about industrialization, colonization, politics, warfare and reforms, this is one of the most rewarding games that I have ever played. All the other Paradox grand strategy games are worth your time as well)
Morrowind: Game of the year edition (Morrowind is one of those games that offers a lot to do, and with mods (which is one of the main draws of the elder scrolls series), that grows to a near infinite number of things to do. Out of all the TES games, I still think that Morrowind is the best, even though it was not my first TES game, mainly because of the setting)
Jagged Alliance 2 (One of the greatest, if not THE greatest, TBTs of all time)

Hesusio: I'd take Risen (assuming I also had a PC that could handle it), only because it's banned in Australia and I want to see what all the fuss is about.
I've played through the game, and I could not find anything that would have made it ban-worthy in Australia.

One of the Total War games or a Civilization game.

Anytime someone asks a question along the lines of "if you could only play one game for a really long time" then TW and Civ will be my answers.
Does one of the Spiderweb Software anthologies count? That's a crap ton of gameplay for not very much cash.

The Might and Magic pack on GOG would probably keep me busy for at least 3 months too.

I might actually be tempted to get a game with a strong multiplayer component, like Battlefield 3 during one of the 30-50% off sales, and just play that. Firefall (F2P when it launches) or Monday Night Combat might also be good choices. Or some crazy game with a cracked out community, like Culdcept Saga (for the 360), card collecting (cards don't cost money) plus board game, there's craptons of fun in there.

Or there's F2P MMOs in general, something like DDO plus 20 pounds on in points (especially if you can get them during double bonus points) would really go a long way. All adventure packs are 20% off this week, that makes your 20 pounds go even further. Just buy the adventure packs everyone recommends (The Shroud, Gianthold, Delara's, etc.). The free races and classes are quite good and there's tons of free content to toss on top of the premium stuff. You could rush to level cap and farm The Shroud and craft a pair of greensteel weapons and a greensteel armor piece or two.

I would love to say there's 3 months of gameplay in Dead Island but there's just not, even with Bloodbath arenas (a DLC) it's just not going to cut it.

The Civ IV/V pack on Amazon.com tonight is under 20 USD, that could keep one busy for ages.

Since I have a Kinect I could pick Dance Central or Dance Central 2, perfecting every song and playing from memory (you can turn off prompts for extra challenge) would easily keep my uncoordinated self busy for 3 months. I have both of these games already, but it fits the price range.

The new Red Dead Redemption complete pack includes all the DLC (including the Warhorse and Bounty Hunter, mostly cosmetic DLCs) along with Undead Nightamre. I think the core game, the Undead Nightmare story, and the multiplayer for both has kept me coming back on and off for 3 months of play. Retail was 30 USD before Christmas (not on sale) so I'd guess it's the same or even less now.

Viva Pinata: Trouble In Paradise and then try and max everything in the journal. That takes a very, very long time.

The Age of Empires Complete pack (includes AoE and AoE2 plus expacs for both) could easily keep one busy for months.

SPAZ if you love the difficult modes may keep one busy, not sure if for 3 months though.

A crazy hard JRPG for my DS, maybe one of the Etrian Odyssey titles.

Still, I think if I had to pick one title for 3 months I'd look for something with flexible coop play that didn't get old. That's going to have the most life in it for someone like me.

Apparently it's because the buffs you gain from smoking weed in game encourages real life drug use.

That's right, the government thinks we all form our opinions of drugs based on its effects in a completely fictional setting. I love my country...

Parvateshwar: Age of Mythology. I've been lusting after a good strategy game to lift me up after coming down from Skyrim. It's difficult to come by in the shops, but a used copy off e-bay can be found less than £10.00.

£5.55 brand spanking new :D

I'd just play the ton of games I already have and just buy something extra like Trine 2.

If I would not have a ton of games on the backlog and the only option would be that 1 game, then it would be Jagged Alliance 2.
And play a lot of Free To Play games. And visit this more often.

macuahuitlgog: one game for the next 3 months and you didn't want to spend more than 20 euro. What game would it be? And why? :)
Actually, I'd get two games for 20 Euro. First is Farming Simulator 2011 and second is COD:MW2, because I have coupons for both and I'm an achievement whore ;o(

But if we talk about games I'd probably love to play for 20 Euro that don't have to be my own, it would be Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes with addon.

And after beating that and the DNF addon I got yesterday I'd return to Just Cause 2 and making own games. :-)

But if we talk about a game YOU want to get, I recommend Pharaoh with addon. It should be pretty cheap on eBay.

Any game, except Portal. I think 3 months is pretty normal for me to complete an average game anyway (except Portal which was finished in hours, not days, even for a slow gamer like me).
Killing floor or Dungeons of Dredmor. Or both.
Either some non-Ubisoft Heroes of M&M, Age of Wonders or Master of Magic. For any of these games three months is nothing, I can play them longer (and I do, actually).
None. :p
Does it have to be released already? If not, I'd wait and hope for Legend of Grimrock to be released soon because it looks awesome. But then again price and distribution channels would matter and they aren't known yet, and I also suspect my old graphic card won't be able to run it, so I'd first have to save money for a new graphic card ... And if I had that graphic card already, I could also buy Trine 2 and join my friends in playing it. :(

Other than that, maybe Sam & Max Season 2 retail (despite the lame German voice-overs, I could still play the original version), Fortune Summoners (once it appears on GamersGate), Knights of the Chalice, To the Moon or Deus Ex (to check if it's really as good as everyone says; I've never played it). Or wait for bundles like the others or check out several smaller games from Indievania. Or just play freeware games. Or the ones I already bought and shelfed. No need to worry about the next 3 months actually. :D

Well... I think I would buy a RPG. I'm a singleplayer and strategy, shooter and racing games don't offer 3 months of singleplayer fun. My short-list would probably look like this:

- Dragon Age Origins (the Ultimate Edition is available for 19.99 as UK Import at amazon)
- Fallout 3 GotY (I often see it for 10-15 Euro)
- Fallout New Vegas
- Morrowind GotY
- Oblivion GotY

If I'm looking outside of RPGs
GTA 4 is available for less than 20 Euro as well. With some luck you could even find a complete edition for less than 20 Euro. The same goes for the X Superbox. I've seen it for 19.99 a few weeks ago. It's hard to get into the X games but they are great. Even if you skip X:BtF, X-Tension, X² and X³:R you'll have more than 3 months of gameplay with X³:TC (10 Euro alone, or 15 in the gold edition together with X³:R).

Oh yeah, X: Superbox, in 3 months you may even manage to raise money to buy a new ship!
