Hello!
I couldn't find a general topic for these kinds of questions, so hopefully there isn't one and I'm not blind.

I'm looking for the name of an old game. I only played the demo, and I know the following things:

This was about 10 years ago, quite possibly more.
The game had actual 3D graphics.
It was an RTS.
You could design your own units.

The demo was timed, so getting to the second level was the maximum I could manage:
In the first (demo?) mission, you had to destroy enemy bases. As far as I can remember, they were rather run-down. (I know, this isn't much help.)
Then, you could select several units and they were transported to the next mission. Newly built units also arrived by the giant plane-thing you used to get to the second area.
Both mission areas were some kind of desert, or at least dark-red/brown with not much vegetation.
Also, units were mostly green-grey.
There weren't many vivid colors at all I think.
I don't remember any foot soldiers, only vehicles.

It was either future sci-fi or more likely some alternative world. My memories are a bit fuzzy, but here is what I remember:
Technology level on the first missions was macine-guns, not too futurey-looking buildings, four wheeled buggys and maybe tanks (but I'm not sure about them). I'm also not sure but maybe the enemy had two-wheeled attack bikes or something like that.

Hope this will ring a bell with someone.
Thank you!

Ground Control?

keremix: Ground Control?
Thanks for the reply!

No, unfortunately it wasn't GC. I don't remember tactics being especially important part of the gameplay.

I loved that game too, if you are looking for a compareable experience, try

Earth 2150

Very similar, but with the difficulty turned up to eleven.

DotEmu offers the original Warzone 2100 as a free download (as long as you create an account to their GOG-like service):

http://www.dotemu.com/en/download-game/1386/warzone-2100

Also, there's the open source version:

I have no idea about the differences, if any, between the "original" and open source versions, but it costs nothing to try both. :)

Yes, I have all "Earth" games on GOG. Difficulty is more like LVL9000 though :D

Great links! I always thought that the game was "open source" in a way that the files were free but not the campaign (due to videos and voice overs, etc.)

Downloading now!

I had this on my Tomb Raider 2 demo disc, as well as a TR3 demo and Thief demo and a few other video demos (I think Daikatana, Gangsters [which was played with, like, the Smack player, akin to Bink], and a few others; I maybe wrong about this, though).
Wow ive been wondering what game this was for years lol
