Survival of the sweetest.

Long Live the Queen, a complex political thriller full of violence, hate, and tough choices, masked by deceptively cute visuals, is available 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $3.99 for the next 24 hours!

Long Live the Queen is a brutal game. Your heroine will try to escape the many dangers awaiting a young heiress to the throne, and will often fail, ending up dead, leaving the kingdom at mercy of it's many enemies. Luckily, you'll be able to back up on your mistakes, probably just to witness another death of the princess. When you're but a child, suddenly burdened by the crushing weight of responsibility, every little decision you make might prove to be your last. This complex and challenging royalty sim will crush your hopes many times, before you manage to protect the princess until the day of her coronation. There are secret plots at play, invaders at the gates, dark magical forces hiding in plain sight, assassins lurking in the shadows, and way too many suitors trying to get their hands on the young heiress' heritage. With non-linear gameplay, and great depth this cute-looking title will take even the most experienced gamer by surprise!

If you thought that the life of a princess is full of bliss, ballroom dancing, cotton candy, and ponies, it's about time you faced the terrifying truth in Long Live the Queen, for only $3.99 on GOG.com. The 60% off Gem Promo offer lasts until Thursday, March 13, at 10:59AM GMT.

Ahh, another deal I let myself caught up with.. For the originality it seems to have, and the right price.
Okay - I'll bite.

doccarnby: Without fail. Bought it on Steam for full price a couple days ago. Damn it!

CharlesGrey: HAH HAH! *points and laughs, Nelson style*

Seriously, couldn't you at least buy it full price here on GOG instead?

But this makes me wonder, if you buy a game here full price, and the next day ( or a few days later ) it goes on sale, will GOG grant you store credit or something? I think Amazon does that sort of thing.
I had Steam cash. As far as store credit, last I checked they could give you something back if it was like, a day or two. I have no idea how often it happened though.
I heard this game unexpectedly and very soon turns that hard so, you starting to wish it was "one of those anime porn games".

CharlesGrey: Anyhow, does this require keyboard input?

Ghorpm: Not at all. You just have to click :)
Thanks for the info, I think I'll go ahead, download my copy and give it a try. It's always irritating when I find a game which appears to be suitable for touch-input ( point & click adventures, in example ), but the developer "ruined" it by including just one or two keyboard commands, for whatever reason, even though the game could work perfectly with just cursor or touch input.
I'll definitely get this one. I miss Princess Maker 2. Thanks, GOG! :D
Little bit pricier on Steam, but they get linux version too. Hmm, the game sounds like fun and has been on my wishlist since the release so I think I will get it now, hoping that by the time I get around playing it GOG also supports linux. Or maybe the game will be on Steam sale before that happens, so might buy the game again to show that us linux people want games too :P

To the pile of unplayed games with you Queenie.
If that would be Valdis or Ittle Dew...i would bite, but Long Live Queen...
Just had to play it (so now backlog: -1, current stack of unfinished games: +1), and must say: Quite the interesting little title... The play style reminds me of "Academagia - The Making of Mages" (another one I wish GOG would get).

First play-through I got to week 26 before getting killed. A little inner voice kept telling me to not choose the choice I did, but I rationalized why I should choose it and of course it ended with me dying.

One thing that I will need to do is more diligently map the modifiers to the skills they affect, and also take know of when certain events (and associated skill-checks occur), even if there is no guarantee they will happen on a given play-through. Ultimately, once I know what is going to happen I can better plot my character's development for maximum completionist fun! :-)

Only after that comes the role-playing, which I cannot wait to start doing.

All in all, a nice title that I hope the developers continue developing the sequel so that the plot threads are resolved.

Even if that doesn't happen, I've had luck running Windows Ren'Py games on Linux through Wine. Long Live the Queen might work as well. Can't test it as I don't have the game though.

You can use the linux demo launcher to run the full game. :)

Oh, it uses Ren'Py? I remember messing around with that software a little, some time ago. Anyhow, it's a fairly simple game, so I imagine it shouldn't be too hard to get it to work properly in Linux, one way or another.
