Magnets! How do they work?

Teslagrad, a steampunkish side-scrolling adventure with electrifying mechanics, great audio, and charming visuals, is available 50% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.99 for the next 24 hours!

Sir Arthur C. Clarke once said that any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. That's a good thing, cause sometimes to make a real difference in the world one needs nothing short of a miracle. When social injustice and oppression seem to have drained all hope from the hearts of the people, even the smallest spark of light on top of the mysterious tower seems like a shining lighthouse. Now, if only the people weren't scared too bad to raise their eyes and look towards it. Guess you'll have to make it shine much brighter!

Teslagrad presents you with an intriguing story that will capture both your imagination, and your heart. In this non-linear puzzle platformer, you'll be utilizing the powers of magnetism and electricity to unlock the many secrets of the abandoned Tesla Tower. With over 100 beautiful hand-drawn environments and rich and immersive--yet voiceless--storytelling, this competent title has every chance to become one of the shining gems of its somewhat crowded genre. The creators went out of their way, to create an experience that will draw you in and keep you invested in the adventure. No loading screens, no GUI, just the mesmerizing soundtrack, the intriguing puzzles, the colorful gameworld, and you.

Ready to bring a whole new spark of electricity to your gaming life? Get Teslagrad, for only $4.99 on GOG.com. The 50% Indie Gem Promo discount offer lasts until Thursday, March 27, at 10:59AM GMT.

jaron11: You're kidding, right? Doesn't sound like something anyone who values their keyboard, controller, teeth or mental health would appreciate. ;)

Leroux: That’s what I call challenge. :)
I guess that's why it's so hard for developers to find the right balance in a game. For some a good challenge means a fair chance to get it right after the first few trials, for other it borders on rage-inducing frustration, rinsing and repeating. I guess it's pretty clear by my wording, which faction I belong to. ;)

tinyE: How are the saves in this game? is it die and start all over?
Ok, here's a quick update after I've re-run the demo for a few minutes: Apparantly the game saves each time you get to a different "screen". "Screens" are side-scrolling though, so in some cases you might play for a few minutes, die and repeat it all again, in others you don't lose any progress, depending on your proximity to the edge of the screen where you entered. From what I've seen you won't lose any more than 2-3 minutes though (if at all). If you quit, the game automatically saves your last checkpoint and you can continue from there.

This promo reminds me that TESLA EFFECT is coming soon!
read side scrolling and moved on, Dont get me wrong there are plenty of good side scroll-er games but I think I have played enough of them over the years. im happier with other methods
Great game.

Oh man, can't wait! That one (and Moebius) is pretty much the only Kickstarter campaign I haven't yet had any regrets whatsoever about backing! Too bad I didn't put in enough money to be eligible for beta testing, as betas will be distributed via gog! Those lucky beta testers can consider themselves lucky!

I had to go check then what level I had backed at to see if I was a beta tester. Nope I only backed half what you need to beta test. I was a $135 digital backer, seems $250 is where the beta test starts. Probably for the best I wouldn't have the time anyway.
Sounds like a lot of fun, more so after reading some of the reviews on the game page.
But, for my purposes sounds like too much frustration, just don't have the patience for that sort of thing.
Doesn't sound like the game is very foregiving.
Tempting... so very tempting
Insta-bought! :)

I've been oogling this one ever since its release, but my game money was all being spent on the Winter Sale at the time. :p

Not sure why I haven't picked this up yet. For a fiver can't really say no anymore.
Love the post title, gog.

-a murder of crows
-a pride of lions
-a bloat of hippos
-a magnet of juggalos

Nice promo, but like others, my backlog is officially too huge. Have to save for tomorrow and the weekend promo, anyway. :)
Hard pick. I'd like to get it for the good things, but hate overly hard platformers. They really should at least provide a difficulty choice.
Scored it :)

Thanks for the promo!
Against my better judgement, looks like I'll be picking this up.
