UPDATE 22.04.2011:
We have uploaded a new version of the Downloader (0.9.0.1218). Please download it at your convenience and let us know if any of the problems you experienced earlier still persist.
Major changes include:
fixed problems with logging on,
the Downloader no longer attempts to move files after changing the destination folder,
you can now change the number of concurrent downloads (1 to 10) in the Downloader's options, in case you think the Downloader is overusing your connection.

UPDATE #2 (22.04.2011):
Version 0.9.0.1224 is out, introducing some backend fixes.

You use an outdated version, try 0.9.0.1336 from the page whereyou can add the games to the downloader.

Ok, I'm feeling a bit stupid here? Downloaded the new vesrsion of the downloader, double click the exe and nothing happens??? Am I doing something wrong here?

Windows 7 64

EDIT: For some strange reason I had to reboot my system before windows would open the exe. Strange??? Win 7 doesn't usually require this.

I used the 'old style' one from GoG, the one which used Adobe Air and I never had a problem with it, ever, and now I can't even download the new downloader! (v0.9.0.1336)

i keep getting an "unexpected end of archive" error when I try to download the .Zip file, anyone else get that?

I'm having trouble with the new downloader.

I've been trying to download one of my games for the last three hours and this is what happens:

- the download will get to say, 50mb then the connection speed will slow down and it will
go back to 30mb. Then it will eventually get to 100mb and the same thing will happen
going back to say 75mb.

So it's going one step forward and two steps back.

In the three hours before I gave up it had managed to get about 300mb downloaded, when it should have been able to download the whole game.

I never had a problem with the old downloader.

Anyone else experiencing this?

abrigati: Holy cow. I have found a MASSIVE BUG in the new downloader.

I tried to move the download location to Z:\\GOG Downloads\ which is on a network drive. It's where all my downloaded GOG games are.

The downloader chugged for a bit, then reported that there was an error calculating free space, and it couldn't move the download location.

And it DELETED EVERY FILE IN THAT DIRECTORY.

I now have to redownload every single one of my GOG game installers.
I'm quite concerned that this report has not been explicitly addressed in this thread. Maybe one of the subsequent updates fixes the problem, but the change log in the first post makes no such mention, so we have no way of knowing.

Can GOG staff please state whether this bug was reproduced and fixed?
In general the downloader still needs a lot of work:
- it doesn't save the login date when there is a connection problem: it keeps asking for the login data instead! Plz let it throw out an error message.
- if your internet connection is interupted the downloader just stops and doesn't resume downloading automatically
- you are not able to directly close it (instead you have to minimize it to the tray and close it then)

Well, at least this downloader doesn't eat memory while downloading till the RAM is full (which made the downloader crash) like the old Adobe AIR based one...

You need to add being able to download everything, and auto extract of zip files to folders would be great
No games appear in the list on v0.9.0.1336 for me..

EDIT: got it to work by clearing my cache..

I just tried downloading Dragonsphere and it went up to 5MB/sec, before I only had 1.2MB/sec (my max. speed is around 10MB/sec). No issues so far.

I have a feature request (please point me to the right direction if it's not here!) and that is: I want to be able to add my current games you've already downloaded to the downloader so you can use it as a library for all your GOG games along with a re-download option (this might already exist) if an error or corruption occurs during the first download. Along with a launch option would be great too of course.

Another feedback/request if possible. This downloader probably uses some kind of FTP tech but if it's possible integrating a system that makes people able to upload their games they have downloaded to people who are trying to download. This could help download speeds for everyone along with less server cost to have decent speeds for everyone.

Grabbing the new version - 0.9.0.1336 - has fixed my problem.
Am I the only one who thinks that the official release should have been 1337, and not 1336? Anyone?

chirp... chirp... chirp...
Sigh, it still crashes when I try to logging :S, guess I'll try again later on another computer

EDIT:
I've tried it with my other computer and it doesn´t work either :S (one has xp and the other vista)

I have a different kind of a problem. No matter what game I try to add, it keeps saying that it's paused. I tried logging in and out, turning the dowloader on and off, but nothing would work. It's just paused. Any idea what this might be?
